Great overall hotel, very modern and progressive indoor design. The hotel restaurant is also very good.
Walking in from the busy streets of Chicago, you'll feel instantly at ease upon entering the Hotel Felix. Running water flows in a small fountain while a large fireplace warms the lobby area, creating a calm and soothing energy that you don't even have to visit the hotel's in-house spa to feel. From the retro-looking Hotel Felix sign on the side of the hotel's gorgeous red brick exterior to the chic, contemporary globe lights hanging from it's interior, I absolutely loved everything about the hotel's design. Old-fashioned round-dial telephones sit juxtaposed against transparent globe table lamps, even though they've received a modern update of their own in chromatic silver. Taking it a step beyond modern to futuristic, the lobby area also features a Monscierge touchscreen monitor that provides hotel info, recommendations, directions, and flight and weather updates. My only complaint is that the standard rooms are a tad bit small, but the double rooms seemed to be a bit larger based on photos I've seen. Brownie points for being the only Silver LEED certified hotel in Chicago too!
Conveniently located in downtown Chicago, Hotel Felix is Chicago's first eco-friendly boutique hotel. The decor is modern and quite luxurious, with generous space even in the single rooms (think king bed). Free wifi all throughout, complimentary morning coffee and accomodating staff. The outdoor art is truly quirky and unique, each sculpture being made from reclaimed, sustainable materials. Highly recommend it!
Don’t stare at the wallpaper too long. It is very trendy and made me confused, because I thought it was shadows. I am not built for stuff like this, but that’s only because I’m easily distracted and there is so much to look at. The hotel is very, very cool; hip, even. The rooms are sleek, tight, only what you need, and also an iPod dock. There’s a French restaurant downstairs, the LM Bistro, that’s a destination unto itself. The fitness center is just as cool as everything else, and there is a spa, in case you were stressed. But why would you be stressed? The staff is very nice, and have all gotten very good haircuts. It really is cool.
Cool and hip boutique hotel with modern amenities - rooms are on the small side!
This boutique hotel is great for several reasons. One of them is that it's got a great location in the heart of everything downtown. Shopping, restaurants and public transportation are all within two blocks. It's an eco-friendly hotel, and the decor is modern and warm at the same time.
There's a small bar in the lobby, and also the Elate restaurant. I didn't eat at the restaurant, but they sure do serve a mean Manhattan.
The rooms are clean, good sized, with soft beds and modern furnishings. Definitely a good place to relax after a long day out in the city.
