I had the pleasure to stay here for a weekend in this beautiful luxury boutique hotel situated in downtown. I loved the decor and the room was stylish and the bed was comfortable.
This place is high tech as they set you up with service via text message rather than dialing out from your hotel room. The location is also prime and you're only a street away from the Tri-Met bus station!
Highly recommend this place.
One flaw - Don't expect a nice gym. There's no swimming pool and it's super small.
The modern stylish Hotel Eastlund is conveniently located across the street from the Convention Center TriMet Max Light Rail stop and is walking distance from the Convention Center. The sophisticated decor is dominated by grey neutral tones punctuated with bold orange accents. The staff is friendly and efficient. And there are two dining options on the premises: Citizen Baker for breakfast and lunch or Altamira City Tavern for lunch, dinner and drinks.
The Red Lion hotel is a utilitarian hotel. Should you be wanting a semi-cheap place to stay with a couple (to a whole lot) of kids and teenagers- this is your place. With no rhyme or reason to the decor, few amenities, and a cigar-smoking-suspender-wearing grandpa vibe, this hotel is conducive to little more than a place to retire after a touristy day in Portland. The rooms are small and not the freshest smelling, but clean and neat. The young and cheerful staff are happy to help you find your way and should you need a day in, there’s always the fitness room and ‘Skyroom’ restaurant with an amazing view of the city. Don’t expect much around the neighborhood, but on the upside it’s very close to Downtown.
Perfectly located close to the Convention Center, Lloyd Center, the Rose Garden, and within easy reach of downtown Portland, the Red Lion is an older type hotel in need of modernization.
It has all the modern amenities you would expect, but for me it was is a little depressing in its decor and out of date style.
The rooms are very clean, as is the hotel in general, and comfortable, but it all looks rather uninteresting as compared to some of the other Convention Center service hotels.
The staff were very friendly, helpful, and it is clear they wanted to make a visitor as comfortable as possible.
Despite the rather uninspiring decor, it clearly is a good, well priced, comfortable hotel that I would recommend to anyone who is attending a local convention or event.
This is a pretty generic hotel near Portland’s Lloyd Center shopping mall. It smells a bit musty in this place, but the rates are reasonable and the location is convenient for downtown (accessible by light rail, within the free zone) and the Convention Center (a few blocks away). They also have space for conferences and other events.
Although there are better hotels in the area, the Red Lion does have a few redeeming qualities. To start, the staff here are super friendly and some speak more than one language. The rooms have firm beds and come equipped with tea and coffee makers, as well as refrigerators. Wi-Fi is free and there’s a small fitness room on site. There’s also a restaurant here which, unfortunately, is only open for dinner.
