Walking into the Sheraton, I immediately felt like I was on vacation. The fish statues lining the driveway, the blue walls with images of beach balls and the hallways filled with bright, natural light made me feel like I was at a beach resort somewhere much warmer than San Francisco. If the weather is warm, there is an outdoor pool, or heat up first at the 24-hour fitness center. Outside there are well created seating areas with hanging lights, and fireplaces. Breakfast is not included but is available on site, including at the cute cafe in the lobby. Flat screen TVs in the lobby give updates on weather and news. It’s quiet, despite being close to Fisherman’s Wharf, which is a nice break from the chaos that can come with the tourist attractions of the area. And, before bed, enjoy the Ghirardelli chocolate left on your pillow. Is there anything more San Francisco than that?
We stayed here from 25-28th Oct and we were exceptionally pleased from the moment we checked-in. We were served by a wonderful staff (Tuesy from Malaysia) who not only managed to upgrade us to an SPG room with a wonderful view of the Golden Gate Bridge at the horizon, she also sent a nice touch to celebrate my belated birthday after a 16-hr flight.
We were most touched by the room delivery (at a timely 5+pm after we were fully rested) of the strawberries coated in decadent chocolate and the amazing sparkling apple cider (Tuesy knew we preferred non-alcoholic drinks). Thank you dear!We enjoyed it much!
The stay itself was awesome with excellent recommendations/ sharing by the staff & concierge of the best restaurants and sights to date.
We bought the 7-day Muni pass and had a great time travelling on the Cable Cars and Muni buses to & fro downtown. It is so accessible and safe to even walk back to the hotel in the wee hours after enjoying a good dinner and chilling out at Pier 39.
This was our 2nd visit to SFO since 2007 for our tour-guided/rushed honeymoon of the West Coast.
The special couple-time we had on our own enjoying SF leisurely and Fisherman's Wharf with fireworks thrown in on that last Saturday, was very precious indeed.
Thank you Mr Bradley Hansen for the truly SPG hospitality, and all the staff for making it a most memorable stay.
We will definitely be back soon to celebrate our special days and memorable events with you.
Cheers & best regards.

Clean, comfortable and quiet: my top three for a good hotel. Sure, the hallway decor might give you seizures, but our room was extremely comfy, with a slight view of the city. Our room faced the inside of the hotel, so it was more quiet than I was expecting for the Wharf. To save $25 a night in parking fees, park across the street at the North Point Shopping Center (enter on Bay St). It's $30/day and open 24 hours.
Got a pretty good deal for a room here via http://Priceline.com, and had an overall pleasant experience here.
The location is ideal if you want to poop around the Fisherman's Wharf area, and I encountered no issues throughout my stay. I arrived in the area early, and asked if I could possibly check in early, to which I was immediately given my room at about 1pm (check in is usually 3pm).
The room was spacious, clean, and well decorated. The view was non-existant (this isn't waterfront), but it was only a block away from where I wanted to be. The only free wifi access is down in the lobby/bar.
I am happy with this location, but if I was looking for something special or unique, this wouldn't be my choice. It does what it needs to do.
The first words out of my daughters mouth when we walked into the lobby was "Is this an airport?". Fitting words - the hotel takes a whole city block and the hallways stretch out forever. While the lobby of the hotel was nice, overall our experience was just so so. The rooms were nice and had been recently redone, but there was lots of street noise even on the top floor, making for a restless night. The bathroom was only half-remodelled, with a nice sink area outside and a pretty grubby and cheap looking shower. If you want to stay in Fisherman's Wharf (by far the most touristy part of the city) its a decent option. If you are bringing a car, be forewarned that parking when you include tax will cost you $51 per day! There are lots of public lots so it's probably worth exploring alternatives.
Accomidating, close to many sites and intense architechture in down town SF.
The Sheraton is usually quite busy with the number of business and cruise/tour groups they get. The hotel is quite massive with an updated decor from most other Sheraton hotels I have stayed in. The rooms are large and comfortable and great if you dont plan on staying in your room much. While very close to fisherman's wharf and to a handful of great restaurant options, the Sheraton is not close to Bart. It is definitely one of the more affordable hotel options in the city.
