Typical Doubletree by Hilton. Nice location especially if you are coming in by bus. Close to Younge Street and Eaton Center. Former Metropolitan Hotel. Friendly staff and full breakfast.

My boyfriend and I have stayed here on a couple occasions. The building itself is beautiful and stands out among the skyscrapers. The price is a bit high (it's a luxury hotel), but you get what you pay for: a perfect location, a comfortable stay, quality rooms and good amenities. My boyfriend and I spent most of our time in the heated pool — hey have a sauna too! The interior decor is gorgeous in the rooms and the lounge areas. Everything is very modern and clean. The rooms are the perfect size and the beds are cozy — the perfect place to snuggle.

Booked a room online for one night. The website makes this hotel seem very nice. It looks like it may have been at one point. The hotel décor is....well its a mix of things. Kinda art deco in the lobby but has Chinese prints in the elevator. All of which are in need of repair/cleaning.

This is the type of hotel i'd pay $65 for a night cause I need a place to crash cause i'm too drunk to drive home. Not the kind of hotel i'd pay $166 a night for. The room that they put us in was musty. The carpet was dirty and there were holes in the wall. Oh and the chair in the room was torn. I was too bewildered to take pics. I sooo wish I had.

When I explained to the employees that the room looks nothing like the hotel he stated "You paid for an entry level room." I'm sorry but for $166 a night expect a clean room! I'm not expecting a suit but don't talk to me like i'm a child. I've stayed in hotels in Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, NYC and all over Florida and I've never had to wait as long as I did to check in.

Also no where on their site does it state that they are under construction. So their parking lot was closed and I had to park in an adjoining lot and ended up paying $48 to stay over night. I asked several people about the parking situation (and other guests were asking me) and no one seemed to know anything.

Overall the room that they switched us to was OK. The bed was clean and comfy and the room its self decent. Except even in the new room the showerhead was moldy and the stopper didn't work. I was too fed up dealing with them that I just stuffed a towel in the drain so I could get a bath. No way was I going to use the shower.

Never. Again.

The Metropolitan is a big, efficient, professional, business oriented hotel...and I love it! From the vintage-style front entrance to the dark wood and marble interior (very grand and imposing!), this hotel (as well as its staff and guests) takes itself very seriously.

There are a lot of amenities and services available at the Metropolitan including a well-equipped pool & fitness centre, coffee/tea/newspaper service to the rooms, and even a free shuttle (limo, not bus!) service to the downtown core.

However, the BEST thing about the Metropolitan is the Lai Wah Heen, the fine dining Chinese restaurant that is famous for its incredible food (you must try the dim sum...unbelievably good!) and its equally impressive service. This is one of the most refined and attentive Chinese restaurants in Toronto!

This is a large and classy hotel located steps from Nathan Phillips Square and City Hall. The stylish front entrance, with its block lettering and bulb lights has a decidedly New York vintage feel about it, and I expected that aesthetic to carry throughout the hotel. But it doesn't. The lobby is spacious, grand and impersonal, with marble floors and rich, mahogany wood walls and you can tell from the atmosphere and guests' attitudes that this is a serious place. On the second floor is the famous Lai Wah Heen restaurant, which is widely considered to have the best Chinese food in the city - but you will pay a pretty penny for it, especially in relation to the inexpensive culinary offerings of Chinatown that are basically right outside your door on Dundas Street. Rooms here are simple and plush, with neutral beige, brown and black decor. It's obvious that this hotel is meant for business travelers and their money, and while it's not exactly my cup of tea, it is superbly located close to everything and has plenty of amenities, including a pool and fitness centre, as well as another bar on the main floor.

With the help of the nearby Metro stop and my love of walking around, the Metropolitan is nicely located. The Theatre District, the St. Lawrence Market, the Hockey Hall of Fame, Queen Street, and even Canadian Tire are all within easy reach.

However, my room was located right off the elevator and right next to the ice machine. I was woken up on both nights a few times as groups were coming home and hanging out. In addition, the swimming/whirlpool area was closed for maintenance and the hotel wi-fi was inconsistent at times. On top of that, the folks down at the front desk were good at answering your questions, but didn't seem to be very engaged or efficient in moving check-ins/outs and inquires through.

I always love coming to Toronto and I hope to return soon. However when I do, I may stay somewhere else.
