I had a week booked at this place that came highly recommended by a close friend. Upon checking in was given the wrong room and not a family room. I was promised a family room in the next 48 hours so I decided to stay since I had three kids with me. The room was on the third floor which is the last floor and I guess no insulation budget was available since the room was hotter than a sauna. The air chiller for the hotel was off, I had to restart it myself but since it the water in the system was well above 22 Celsius there was no relief in sight for the night. Long story short the room was a health hazard heat wise and had to spend the night with the kids till midnight by the pool to avoid the room. The bed is hard, I mean hard as a plank, you've been warned. There is a sofa that opens up to a bed and a two seater where you can put a five year old toddler to sleep. The room itself is spacious for three four people (mix of adults and children) a little kitchenette with no glasses to drink water from or utensils. It defeats the purpose of having a kitchen. I was promised a room in the next day to avoid the third floor but did not happen so I had to leave the next day. The pool is small and unkept the water has a milky look. The manager is a young fellow that stands in for the owner (I am guessing his father) and catters mostly to North Europeans who have no issues with heat who eat pasta twice a day. He means well but has no business in the hotel industry as he tends to brush off concerns with the excuse that no other customers are complaining. The waiters try very hard and are very polite but cannot remember an order of five items if their lives depended on it. One of them try to convince me that the calamari and the cuttlefish are the same and was trying to serve me calamari instead of cuttlefish which were part of the menu. The cooking leaves a lot to desire as well, the pasta was undercooked and overkilled in garlic. The breakfast included in the price is a bit odd. If you have cereal you cannot ask for eggs. When you ask for fried eggs make sure you ask for two otherwise you are getting one. I have reviewed plenty of places during the past years. Being an Albanian I tend to sit on my reviews for places in my home country in order to let the emotions settle and give a fair shake to folks involved in the service industry. Vila Florika is a good hotel structurally speaking, great landscaping and potential but the management needs to remove themselves from the business and hire professionals in managing, kitchen and waiting. This is all I can remember right now, I am sure more details will come to mind as time goes by.
