Ticks All Boxes
The Mercure ‘ticked all the boxes’ of what I was looking for - central location in Albury, free and ample parking, quiet room with blacked out curtains, TV, hairdryer, iron, super comfy bed, great service, very reasonably priced accommodation and excellent breakfast menu. The staff went ‘above and beyond’ by adding a single bed for my female friend, as we didn’t want to share a queen bed and that meant, we didn’t have to book another seperate room. Would definitely recommend Mercure Hotel in Albury.

Extremely disappointed experience
Unfortunately, this was one of the least comfortable hotel stays I've had.
The artwork in the room created the opposite of a relaxing atmosphere for me. Rather than making the room feel warm and inviting, it gave me an unexpected sense of anxiety and unease. I understand that art is subjective, but these pieces didn't feel appropriate for a space where guests are supposed to rest.
What concerned me far more, however, was the overall condition and cleanliness of the room. The picture frames were covered with thick dust and cobwebs, suggesting they hadn't been cleaned for a long time. When I turned on the air conditioner, dust and lint immediately started blowing into the room, making me question how thoroughly the room had been cleaned and maintained.
The bathroom also showed obvious signs of poor upkeep, with dirty grout, visible grime between the tiles, and dust in areas that should have been cleaned. Altogether, the room felt neglected rather than well maintained.
The following day, all four members of my family became unwell, including our seven-month-old baby. While I cannot say with certainty that this was caused by the condition of the room, it certainly made us even more concerned about the hotel's cleanliness.
Because of everything we experienced, I completely lost confidence in the hotel's housekeeping standards. Instead of feeling relaxed, I spent the entire night feeling tense and uneasy. I even slept fully clothed because I simply didn't feel comfortable enough to settle in.

Disgusting
We stayed at the Mecure, Albury. I had stayed there before when Megghan Gardner was the concierge and manager and it was wonderful, so I suggested to my Wife that we stay again on our way to Melbourne. It was disgusting. The room was filthy, there was no milk provided and no coffee or sugar. The window was cracked and the air-conditioner did not operate, hence we had a cold and unpleasant long night. We were really tired after our travel to Albury so we thought we would eat at the restaurant. We both had what was supposed to be the barramundi, but it was not. It was a piece of very overcooked frozen fish. We will never stay at the Mecure ever again and we shall ensure that all our family and friends avoid the place. Disgusted.

Breakfast was small for the price. Dinner we waited 50mins for our food to come and when it did one was the wrong meal and had to be redone.
