Such a great way to experience Cradle Mountain. The warmth, coziness and comfort of our cabin welcomed us after a day exploring.
Mulled wine and dinner in front of the fire at the bistro memorable.
The staff in all areas welcoming, efficient and obliging.
The wallabies and waterbirds spotted over breakfast at the restaurant fabulous!

Old and tired property

The lodge is really well located within the park - 10/10
The lodge itself needs a major refit … have been going there for the last 10 years and it is now very run down, the main lodge looks tired and old. The rooms are okay have a 1970’s vibe to them .. the carpets are vey old need urgent looking at. Bathrooms are okay .. clean and spacious, but again old. The fireplace place in the room with the never ending supply of firewood was great, but please check for smoke leaks. Overall lodge and room facilities would be a 5/10 and this is being generous
The food .. well the less said the better .. massive waits and very very average food. You do not expect gourmet meals, but you do expect a warm pizza, or a fresh salad. Breakfast was okay .. and perhaps would help take the rating to 4/10
The spa - I would give. 101/10 .. amazing facility and location and brilliant service.

Exotic and relaxing stay

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The staff is competent and efficient. Check-in and check-out procedures were quickly completed. We tested the hotel’s two restaurants: the gourmet Highland (reservation recommended) and the bistro, a family atmosphere. Accommodations are located in nature, which gives privacy and allows you to get up close and personal with wallabies and wombats who walk around at night. Our cottage (Pencil cabin) was comfortable with a nice view. However, it deserves some refreshing touches in view of the price of the night. Several walks possible within this structure via very well marked trails. You can also book guided tours within Cradle Mountain National Park. We opted for a 3 hour tour, the Discovery tour we did with Ken, an excellent experienced guide who taught us a lot. We were just two guests that afternoon, probably due to rainy weather but really had a great time with her. This stay allowed us to admire wildlife up close, discover beautiful landscapes and realize a digital diet (no TV or wifi in the accommodations. Wifi is available at reception and in restaurants. Relaxing and exotic stay that still has a price.

Mixed experience

Stayed as part of a large group of family and friends. And overall I’d say the mixed reviews this hotel gets is on the money and matches our experience.
Check in was poor and to an extent quite badly managed. Very little information provided and one map for 4 cabins with 4 couples staying? Odd! On our second day We arrived for our booked breakfast to find it hadn’t been booked, even though we booked the previous night at reception. I asked to charge it to be told we hadn’t left a card to our room. I explained I had and was simply told I’d need to go and sort it with reception my self. So I went to reception and the girl simply looked up and said yes you have a card against your room?! I went back to the restaurant and was provided with a table…. No communication was had between the two staff members at all. Why am I, as the customer sorting this out? . Breakfast is ok for a buffet but given it is $40.00 the breads and pastries are basic and not on a par with other Peppers at all. If you drink tea enjoy the lukewarm water to make your tea!
Our experience of staff at the hotel ranged from brilliant service, super helpful and friendly to couldn’t be bothered to help or offer any level of service. It really does range that much.
As for the daily room service this was odd. Often a towel would be replaced sometimes not, coffee wasn’t replenished one day, the next it was… there was actually little in the way of service being offered and one of our party had to go to reception to get toilet paper as it hadn’t been replaced when finished! That’s a basic expectation and shouldn’t have happened.
Overall the area is amazing, beautiful and well worth the visit. We loved exploring the area.
In any other location this hotel probably wouldn’t survive, because the overall service is so unpredictable and competition is badly needed to sort out this hotel that could be really amazing. Management need to read the reviews, and take notice of the mixed nature of them. People are paying hard earned money to visit and frankly we wouldn’t choose to return based on our experience. The level of service doesn’t match the price point, it’s not on par with other Peppers Resorts and staff clearly aren’t well supported. In fact I felt sorry for those who were doing a good job in spite of colleagues with a more couldn’t care attitude.

Amazing location, rustic comfotable and warm accommodation

The Lodge is located in the Cradle Mountain NP. Again it is in the high country so will be colder, wider and have less facilities that a coastal city.
We stayed in a Suite and it was spacious, rustic and really comfortable. The hotel gets hammered with day trippers, however after they leave and before the next bus load arrives it is excellent.
We stayed 3 nights and got up early to explore the park before the shuttle system commenced. It was an absolute highlight of our Tasmanian trip.
