The room was really small (although I was expecting that) but it was good for an overnight stay and really worth it for access to the lagoon pool which I'd been wanting to go to for ages since it opened.

An incredibly disappointing, frustrating, expensive mistake.

Ibis Airport Darwin is basically adjacent to the Airport Mercure which was being renovated. The pre-booked & pre-payed overnight room was very small & very noisy (both from the renovations & also the people coming & going in the hallway to access rooms.... in other words the rooms are insufficiently soundproofed) and yet the price of the room was $331 which I had (stupidly) thought was reflective of quality.
Immediately after entering into the room & hearing the noise we went back to reception, gave them back the key & complained (they apologised). Then we left & I must admit they helped out a bit by calling us a taxi. We spent the night at the waterfront Vibe hotel which was roughly the same price for a much superior & quieter room.
BUT it's very bad form from Ibis management who say that we can't get our money back because there's no proof we didn't use the room. I would have thought the "system" would record the time of both our check-in & our check-out. They had the card details of course, so for our $331 (plus the surcharge) we got a look inside a room, and an apology, and a phone call for a taxi. Wow, thanks Ibis. It stings more because we belong to the umbrella group's loyalty club.
Overall an incredibly disappointing, frustrating, expensive mistake.

Never again

This is the smallest hotel room I have ever had. Barely get around the bed to get in.
Miles from the reception, pool etc.
The cute little adult pool which we booked because of, was part of the complex under renovation and this was NOT advertised on the site. Cleaners did a crap job of the room, didn't even empty rubbish, or make bed , didn't replace teas coffees only gave towels .
Pool was ok.
Food was average and expensive.
If you need a airport hotel choose novatel..

This is a solidly three-star hotel. It's clean and convenient to the airport and that's all it has going for it. We got there after midnight and were left to find our own way to the building/room in the dark. Not great.

The shuttle service was easy to figure out. The staff were amazing and super helpful.
