‘The Container’ - stunning eco b&b in Lilydale TAS

Highly recommend one the most exceptional Air b n b’s - felt completely spoilt and totally rejuvenated after our stay. Our hosts were simply Devine - both funny and warm, looking after our every need discreetly for we were in our own completely private oasis. The accommodation had a spectacular forest-mountain-view down across the entire valley. We loved the state of the art design full of treasures, great books, a fabulous collection of music and the most incredible free standing wood heater which kept everything cosy. The stunningly positioned king sized bed was so comfortable, the linen and furnishings were all luxurious, a divine treat for the senses. Everything was so creatively considered, we couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more. Thanks so much to Susie and Gordy, Tasmania’s gold medal hosts!

Beware: No flexibility or understanding from this host

My experience with Susie was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I made a genuine mistake when booking the property, confusing Lilydale in Tasmania with Lilydale in Victoria — a completely different state. Once I realized the mix-up and that I wouldn’t be able to make it to Tasmania, I reached out six days before my arrival date to cancel. It was particularly upsetting because I had booked the property for a special occasion — my 22nd birthday — and was really looking forward to the trip.
Unfortunately, Susie was rigid and unsympathetic. Her cancellation policy offers 50% back if canceled 7 days prior, and I narrowly missed that by just one day, which was frustratingly close. Given the circumstances, I reached out to her in advance, explained the honest mistake, and requested a refund. She initially said she’d consider partial compensation if the dates were rebooked, which I appreciated — but that quickly changed.
When I contacted Airbnb just to clarify their policies, Susie accused me of going behind her back, even though I wasn’t trying to circumvent her or Airbnb. I simply needed information, especially since I was still trying to go about things the right way. After that, her tone became harsh and dismissive, and she rescinded her offer of a partial refund purely because I had asked for further clarification.
She also insisted I contact her via her personal phone number, which felt like an attempt to take the conversation outside of Airbnb’s platform — something that made me uncomfortable and seemed like a red flag. I believe that all communication around bookings should be transparent and kept on-platform for everyone's protection.
What’s most frustrating is Susie’s complete lack of empathy. The cost of living today is incredibly high, and as a young person, the amount I paid for this trip — that I couldn’t even attend — was a huge financial hit. This was meant to be a celebration, and instead it turned into an expensive, stressful mess. Her behavior throughout came off as money-hungry, prioritizing profit over fairness and basic human understanding.
While I understand hosts need to protect themselves with cancellation policies, there’s a way to do that with professionalism and compassion — neither of which I received here.
Plans change and life happens — Susie is not understanding of that. I would absolutely not book here again. God forbid anything unexpected happens in your life, this woman does not care.

Not our cup of tea!

Unfortunately, our stay didn't live up to our expectations. The accommodation was in a stunning setting, very quiet and private and the shower room and outside bath were great. But we found it quite uncomfortable. The bedroom was dark and oppressive - although the view out was stunning - the lounge chairs and bar stools uncomfortable. The lack of a fly screen on either of the doors meant that during a warm spell when we needed more breeze than was coming from the windows, the flies, wasps and other insects just swarmed in. And the sound quality of the tv was really bad, so much so that we had to put the subtitles on to understand anything.

The Trig a place where you can be nothing but present.

I would like to warmly thank Suzie and Gordie for creating a space that invites such deep relaxation and rejuvenation for the mind body and soul.
Nestled in what can only be described as heaven; myself and dear friend were able to let go and just enjoy. Absolute magic. A home away from home.
From the eclectic, renewable, resourcefully designed architecture of the space that oozes creativity and inspiration from the natural world. To the detail and thoughtfulness of the space. The bath outside is sweetly nestled under ferns looking out towards the valley; the already lit fire upon arrival, the record player … details such as this inspire one to appreciate life it itself in all its splendour and to feel truly grateful for the experience and care

Best hosts with the best taste

Benn lucky enough to stay at both the Trig and Container over the past few years and have to say Suzie and G's eclectic taste coupled with funky styling make them my go-to stop for accommodation in Northern Tasmania.
(Have to say their outdoor baths on a cold clear winters night with a glass of red is pretty much my definition of paradise)
