Charming, rustic hotel with exceptional service!

I can not sing the praises of this hotel enough. Not only is Alte Post rustic, charming, and historic, surrounded by gorgeous Austrian mountains, it is run by incredible people. I broke my leg on a bike trip, and I happened to be staying here. Andreas, who works at the hotel, carried me up three flights of stairs to my room, and Ludwig, the owner, called upon his son to drive me to the hospital, where he waited many hours until I was sorted out. Ludwig also drove my boyfriend to the hospital, which was in the town over, the next day. The hospitality and generosity of these folks is above and beyond. While waiting to go to the hospital, I even got a meal in, and I was delighted to enjoy the delicious salmon and beef dishes and a refreshing Austrian beer. My only regret is that I did not have more time to enjoy this special b&b. I can not recommend this place enough. 11/10.

Our most peaceful holiday ever!

Due to traffic jam we arrived very late in the night, but they waited for us and offered us something to drink upon the arrival. All of the employees were so friendly and offered their help, it made us feel comfortable. The rooms are looking great and I have never seen such ambition for cleanliness. You could literally eat from the floor, they took care of every little corner in the room and you werent able to even find a speck of dust. Next to the hotel you have a small river and if you open the window of your room you can hear it flowing and enjoy the sounds of nature. The whole enviroment in Feistritz an der Gail is peaceful and giving you the opportunity to let go of all the Stress you have. But also offers you a ton of other things to do. You can go skiing, climbing, hiking or just enjoy a good glas of wine by the lake. We have eaten in the restaurant of Alte Post and can recommend it too. The meals are delicious, local and the prices are affordable. Overall this was one of our greatest holidays thanks to the service and the great, peaceful enviroment. We will definitly come back another time!

Ok local hotel restaurant

Gasthof Alte Post is an ok 3 star hotel- restaurant with sufficiently spacious and clean rooms. Locals have a beer here in the afternoon. Restaurant serves regional
Menu with fish and meat courses accompanied by beer or some local wines. Few basic cocktails - limited. Staffis overall friendly although the lady of the house is not immediately in for humour.

Charming, will visit again

We wanted to get some coffee and iced hot chocolate on our way home from the mountains and decided to stop here. Oh what a delight. The drinks were delicious but even more noteable- the owner was charming and funny, engaged us in a conversation upon serving us, told us some anecdotes from his life and was all in all very hospitable. We will be back to this clean and beautiful Gasthof to have lunch or dinner soon. It’s well worth a trip!

Very well appointed guesthouse in beautiful countryside

This very clean and well designed gasthof was our favorite accommodation on our 7-day bike trip. It was evident that the owners put a lot of time, money and detail into this charming inn. It included a courtyard to enjoy our dinner while watching the sunset over the valley. The delicious and varied breakfast was in a nice sunlight room and so attractively laid out that it was almost a shame to disturb. The inn is located in a very small village and although they were “the only game in town”, they presented as though located in a renown resort area.
