Friendly hotel with train honks
Small village style hotel inside of a private houses district. I had a single bedroom Nr.2 on ground floor. Clean, durable, functional, modern. Shower was a bit small for me, but still good with modern faucet, shampoo etc. A good mattress and soft pillow. Big parking area around hotel. A well-thought-out system for issuing a key, when reception is not occupied.
Breakfast is rich and various, with fresh bread.
WiFi is very poor in the room Nr.2. Mobile device trying to switch to 4G, which is shown, but delivers only Edge speed with Drei provider. Nice and quiet green area except one thing: The railway crossing is located in the immediate vicinity of this neighborhood, and for some reason, trains passing by necessarily honk (about once every half hour during daylight hours) starting at 6 am. Therefore, if you sleep with the window open, you don't need to set an alarm for 6 am, since you will be woken up by a bright and loud train horn anyway. Trains itself are moving slowly and quite. But the horn…

I booked 1 room in Hotel Sonnenhof on 16th February, via Hotels.com, for a stay commencing on 28th May.
Hotel sent me a message on 27th May that I was not in Hotel Sonnenhof in Timelkam, but at an apartment in Lenzing, 4.5km further away. No pre-warning was given, no rationale for the change in location, no option to cancel or reduction in rate was offered.
I was very upset when I received the message on 27th May (the day before I was due to stay at the hotel). It was really inconvenient to be in a different location from my friend, and required that I drive back and forth from Timelkam to Lenzing multiple times. As I was only informed the day before the stay was due to start, I had no option to cancel and rebook elsewhere as nothing else was available.
In addition, the apartment was in a poor location, not of a good quality, and the kitchen crockery was incomplete.
The hotel reception was very slow to respond to communication, and only available in the mornings.
Do not stay here - very poor service.

3 Stars would be ok
However a standard hotel. Clean, fair price for accommodation. But far off four star hotel. Guess for clickbaiting. Nevertheless breakfast incl. all necessary things. And you will meet very happy and friendly, positive staff! Compliments and thank you very much.

This Hotel is suffering from a lack of personnel.
I arrived at the hotel prior to the stated check-in time, however was surprised to find that there was no receptionist and the hotel was completely closed. Calling the phone number on the door didn't resolve anything as it went to a voicemail box. After waiting more than 30 minutes outside, a cleaning lady inside happened to see that I was standing there, and let me in and gave me a key to a room.
Later in the evening, when coming down for dinner I was told that the chef had recently quit, so there would be no food available. The receptionist (by which time had arrived), was kind enough to order a pizza from a local restaurant and apologize for the inconvenience.
The hotel is not very well located, and I did not have a car with me, so it made for a difficult situation.
The following night, I again came down to the reception to see if it was possible to order some food and this time no receptionist, so went the night without dinner.

Excellent option
The Sonnenhoff Hotel, run by a couple one member of which is British, the other Austrian, is an excellent option in this unlikely place, in a semi-industrial zone. A modern building, surrounded by charming garden lovingly tended, offers basic rooms and comforts without any pretensions. I spent a couple of nights there in July and enjoyed them very much. A car is absolutely necessary, as public transport is unavailable, and the hotel is some way outside both Timelkam and nearby Voklabruck.
