We booked online and , although not downtown, it was not difficult to move. The rooms are quite spacious and the staff welcoming, indeed we were able to communicate with someone in Italian. Breakfast varied, quite salty, little for dessert.

Service Desert Campanile Vienna South – only goodwill, no responsibility

I booked Campanile Vienna South through CHECK24 (booking 16022582021). On arrival, despite valid booking confirmation, I had to wait almost an hour before I was even assigned a room. Only hours later did Check24 tell me that my booking was wrongly forwarded to another hotel. The hotel welcomed us exclusively out of goodwill – officially there was no valid booking.
The reception was incompetent and unprofessional, my booking confirmation was hardly noticed. Other guests pointed out to us that they had considered legal action.
During the stay there were significant shortcomings, which the hotel admits, but downplays: Carpet stained, hair in the bathroom, missing cosmetic wipes, air conditioning only on heating – the room could not be temperature controlled, could either withstand 24 °C at night or tilt the window in sub-zero temperatures, despite busy main road. In addition, the neighbouring room with children caused night noise. My husband was not registered despite booking – further evidence of the poor handling.
Especially cheeky was the hotel's insinuation that I was constructing problems to get a discount – completely absurd and unacceptable.
For all the stress, delays and missed activities (including concert), Check24/HotelWhales offered only €50 voucher/cash payout – at a cost of €377.11 for three nights ridiculous and disrespectful. No apology, no breakfast, no accommodation, nothing.
Conclusion: Service, organization and customer orientation disastrous, responsibility is consistently passed on to the customer. Warning to all travellers: Mistakes are obfuscated, played down and insulted customers. Absolute cheekiness.

The older gentleman at the reception is very unfriendly. On arrival we wanted to book another night, but he said it was not possible. His colleague, on the other hand, said when asked again it was possible. But then we let it go. Gsd. We had either way 4 days/3 nights. The room was not clean. Lots of cobwebs and lots of stains on the carpet. None of the 4 days! our room was made. No trash emptied, no towels changed, nothing! Although the cleaning sign was on the door. There is no wardrobe, although it was in the room description, there is no chair in the room, although a laptop workstation is advertised, there is no safe for valuables. At breakfast, right next to you, the food waste is emptied into a pork bucket. Very appetizing indeed... Thank you ☠️ Vienna was nice, this place NEVER again!

Poor.

Not cleaned properly (hair on the toilet).
Vomit on the bedroom curtain.
Very unpleasant smell.
Staff in the morning not motivated.

Overall, it felt like a slightly upgraded hostel. There was no water heater in the room, the AC wasn't very cold, and the towel I got on the first day was actually dirty—it had hair and yellow stains on it. Plus, the housekeeping was sloppy; they didn't replace all the bathroom towels with fresh ones and even left the used ones behind. Location-wise, it's not great; it takes a 30-minute bus ride to get downtown, and there aren't many good food options around. All in all, aside from the fact that it felt relatively safe, I think there is a lot of room for improvement.
