A gem of a villa
We stayed here for my husbands 60th. Chef Lindrey cooks up some amazing treats and Francine keeps the villa spotless. A little haven of peace and quiet with a private pool and beach is very close by. You need a car to get around the island but the staff help with everything you need - highly recommend.

Where Am I
Recent stay at the Sea Symphony Villas in Checker Hall - St. Lucy, Barbados with family during the Holiday week.
Location:
The location of the Villa is in the far north west portion of Barbados in a remote area. A rental car is required. No Ubers came to this area. Some taxi's were even unfamiliar with the zone. There are other rentals/homes in the area here. Nothing is walkable except a very small convenient store. There is a path along a sea wall about 5 minutes to get to the Ocean, however, there is literally no beach and sand due to the waves so if you except to use this as a bathing beach it is not an option and not safe for children. The only area where there are small patches of sand are near poisonous bushes the locals told us. It is 1-hour to Bridgetown and the Airport; very far and not a convenient location at all. The nearest towns are Speightstown, Holetown, Mullins.
The Villa:
The Pros are the size of the Villa it has about 6 beds and 6 baths which for large groups of guests, comes in handy. The pool is very underwhelming - it was cleaned just one time during our stay of 7 nights and was very cloudy and filled with sand, also was very cool in temperature as it sits mainly in shade. There are ample lounges and seating around this area. The barbeque area is nice as it overlooks the ocean and great views, however, the barbeque grill is big enough to put about 6 burgers on and that is it - very small. It also ran out of propane after less than 1-hour of usage and was not checked or replaced during our stay. The overall villa is open-air and no A/C so it is very warm. The housekeeper comes every day and shuts the windows and shuts the A/C off in each room which is uncomfortable. Two rooms A/C units did not work for about 5/7 nights during the stay which was very uncomfortable. The Villa is in need of updating. The Kitchen upstairs refrigerator barely got cold, did not make ice half the time. There were ants throughout the Kitchen and pantry areas the entire week. The water is not drinkable and you must bring in your own bottled water, the water in the villa is yellow. The water in the toilets remained yellow during our entire stay and in the bathrooms as well. There are just not enough clean towels and by day 3 they stopped putting out clean beach towels. We found a linen closet with extras, however, the next day the housekeeper locked it on us. Half of the white bath towels we had been given had brown or yellow stains on them and we had to re-use them and/or they were wet from not being able to replace them. The WiFi was horrible and we lost connection for about 2.5 days of our stay but it was then corrected. On day 3 they offered us wifi hotspots to join but this could have been given on day 1 as it was a holiday it was inconvenient to not be able to use during this time. The Villa felt safe but it is residential area and I would make sure to use the locks.
The Rooms:
The room we stayed in the bath fixtures barely worked with any water pressure and filled up the bathtub constantly with yellow water. The toilet barely flushed and the one hallway toilet was broken during our stay. The beds have a carboard feel to them and are paper thin. They only have 2 small pillows on either a queen or king bed and are literally not even enough to sleep on especially for families with children. The housekeeper came and made the bed each day and turned the A/C off that was about it. I believe they would do laundry as well if you chose to. It was inconvenient to constantly have the Housekeeper present from about 8AM onward. During our stay at least 2x they walked in our room while we were sleeping or changing. As an AirBnB, I have never seen or had this experience.
Service:
Prior to the stay you can pay 2,000 USD more to have Chef make foods. We did not select this option. However, it was very odd as the Chef was still there the whole week. So our group 'paid' to have him make us breakfast daily and 2-3 of the 7 dinners. Honestly could not keep track of the convenience charges involved. It seems like a well oiled scam. The meals should've been portioned for our 15 but they were rationed for about 10 max. The Chef assisted our group in obtaining groceries from salt and pepper to meats, however, the house had half this stuff to begin with but we still had to pay to stock their downstairs kitchen with pantry items that would remain long after our stay. Breakfasts were nothing more than toast - bacon - cut fruits and eggs. The same thing 6/7 days we were there. We did not know how this system worked. The dinners were served right on time if not 10 minutes earlier and the food was cold for 2 of our 3 meals there. But Chef Lindrey is a very kind and great person. We loved Lindrey and enjoyed sharing stories with him. He assisted us with our barbeque night, but again we felt this was just odd as there was constantly eyes on us at the AirBnB. We were not a group of bachelor parties so having the housekeeper and the chef there constantly came as an annoyance. One of our guests had a difficult time with this and expressed it as well. The owner Dorothy assisted us upon arrival but then was no where to be seen and with the internet outage we could not even contact her. We were supposed to get a pickup service at the airport but never got a contact number, who to meet or a phone call about it so we had to pile in taxis and rental cars ourselves to get there.
Value:
For near 10,000 USD during the stay, this was just no where near the value. For 10,000 villa i would at least expect working internet, clean and or available towels, a pillow to sleep on, a great pool and or some other feature but there just isn't. The Villa is spacious and mainly clean but just lacking overall charm. Also everything we did or moved seemed to be a problem and was moved back the next day by the housekeeper so it was a constant battle of chairs and space and personal belongings in our room being moved for unknown reasons. Barbados overall was awesome for us however this area just made it so difficult to get to anything on the island and we were not able to get to at least 2-3 locations in the southern part of the island during our stay. It was disappointing to spend such a high price point for this holiday and holiday week for the overall value. Plus the added monies then required for grocery fees, convenience fees and charges related to the Chef just again were not worth the value. Day 1 was great where we had an appetizer - salad - main meal and sides - dessert but then the other meals were nothing more than 1 main dish served in 1 pan for 15 people with 1 side and maybe a frozen vegetable - no salads, no appetizers, no desserts. We also saw that leftovers were thrown out even though this was food we bought and paid for, it overall was just a very weird system having the two kitchens and the Chef would constantly tell us sorry that item must be upstairs or vice-versa it was like things always went missing. Would definitely opt to Not choose the Chef service at all. The kitchens are ample and plenty of space to buy and cook on your own without limiting yourself and your group on quantity portion etc.
Overall would not stay again in this area nor this Villa at Sea Symphony in Barbados but we will definitely return to Barbados one day. Would recommend choosing a Villa or rental or hotel well south to experience more of the island. Hopefully the Sea Symphony Villas can be remodeled and updated in the future and this can again become a better place for group accommodations and stays. Thank you for your time and hospitality.

Sea Symphony villa is a 6 bedroom villa and comfortable accommodates a maximum of 12 persons.
If an agency or head of a group wants to extend an accommodation group beyond 12 persons, the villa management should be informed before arrival.
Unfortunately, in this case, there was no indication until on arrival as the reservation was confirmed for 12 persons.
On arrival, adjustments were quickly made for the 15 guests.
The rental cost includes the services of the daily chef and daily housekeeper.
The rental cost does not include groceries. The head of a rental group is contacted before arrival to inform if any group member has any special dietary requirements or special dietary requests.
Before arrival, the head of the rental group is also sent some of the chef's arrival dinner suggestions and a starter grocery list for pre stocking the villa, the bill for which is to be paid on arrival at the villa.
These were sent to the head of this group who chose their arrival dinner and starter groceries for the first breakfast.
The head of this group paid the establishment for their arrival dinner groceries and first breakfast groceries.
Remainder of groceries and food for the group during their rental was therefore discussed with the chef, decided by the group and paid directly to the supermarket when bought.
There was no further money paid to the establishment or paid to the chef during the rental for groceries or for the preparation of meals.
The villa has 2 kitchens.
Groceries for meals are stocked in the kitchen used by the chef.
The other kitchen is used for the guest drinks and guest snacks.
Unfortunately, a passing truck broke the overhead phone lines on the main road.
This left the residents in the entire area without Wi-Fi for one night.
The phone service Flow was able to rectify service to the entire area early the following morning.
The staff rectified the Air condition in one of the bedrooms as the guest had accidentally unplugged the air condition plug.
The establishment made arrangements with the head of the group to transfer two of the guests from the airport to the villa, informing of the sign which would be held. Unfortunately, no passenger responded to the sign held by the driver at the airport. While the transfer driver was still at the airport, the two guests arrived at the villa in one of the hired cars driven by the guests. The head of the group apologized for the inconvenience.
The establishment understands that there can be difficulty communicating if your first language is not English.

The staff was wonderful, chef made delicious Bajan meals, very accommodating and pleasant stay…will definitely be back- thank you for a relaxing stress free birthday vacation!

Had a fantastic holiday
Sea Symphony is a comfortable house with fabulous pool in a great setting within yards of a beach.
Both Lindsey the chef and Dorious the housekeeper were a fantastic addition to the overall experience
In addition to the already well equipped house we would suggest considering of a dishwasher and possibly a commercial style Fridge Freezer

Pampered and comfortable relaxation in Paradise
My wife and I separately landed on the ad for SeaSymphony while researching places to stay for our second week in Barbados. We were a bit worried it was too good to be true. It turned out to be So Good and Definitely True! The villa is located in the Checker Hall region in St Lucy on Northwest coast of Barbados. It was beautiful and pretty quiet and exactly what we needed after a fairly loud but fun week in St Lawrence Gap. It took a couple of days to get adjusted really, and we were stunned at the amount of house we had just for us two. We were toured around the house by Dorious cleaner and laundress extraordinaire and the proprietor Dr. Dorothy Roberts. We then met the masterful Chef Lindrey who welcomed us with fresh Bajan fishcakes that were the perfect antidote from a bumpy and warm hourlong taxi journey. I could go on for hours, so let me try to summarize. For negatives or potential negatives, the bed in the room we selected was a little firm and the pillows weren't the best (we pilfered extra pillows from unused rooms with permission) but this is very minor - we slept soundly. The location is pretty remote so if you're looking for lively, this might not be for you. If you're looking for a flop and drop to just chill and relax and unwind, this IS your spot. This is perfect if you're renting a car. If you don't have a car, Taxis ( cheers, Chris!) and the local bus service are available. $3.50 gets you to Holetown (1 way, per person) on the yellow or blue busses which run frequently. You can get to Speightstown, Holetown, or Bridgetown and beyond easily enough. The beach that's straight down from the villa is pretty small and the surf seemed quite rough most of the time, but there's meant to be good snorkelling down there - but you'd want to be an able swimmer. I think there's a beach kind of around the corner to the south, but we didn't go there and I don't know if there's any services. There is a lot of beach kit available at the villa, particularly for kiddies. The beach/pool towels at the villa are the nicest ones I've ever experienced. With a little exploration, you should be able to find the right spot. The villa and the pool speak for themselves but the real value add are Chef Lindrey and Dorious. Dorious keeps the villa squeaky clean, spotless! AND she does your laundry. We rolled in with a weeks worth of dirty laundry and she handled it like a champ, and stocked the wardrobe better than a retail shop when the laundry was done. This is such a huge benefit as we went through a lot of clothes in the heat, and typical hotel laundry is $$$$$. Chef Lindrey is delightful and interesting to chat to as well as having the experience of having prepared food in hotels, cruise ships, and restaurants for 50 years. Every meal was a delight. Fish, Beef, Chicken, Pork, Veg - he does it all to perfection! As mentioned previously, his potatoes dauphinois are simply off the hook good. Ok so much for summarizing! Sea Symphony Villa is definitely all it's cracked up to be. Don't pass it up, whether you're 2 people or 12, it's the experience of a lifetime, our stay there was definitely the better week of our 2 weeks in Barbados, and we're already planning to go back.
