Very good stay!!

Great hotel! Clean and comfortable room. Small welcome touches that make you happy! Warm welcome, smiling and friendly staff. Buffet breakfast very rich and varied!!! Car parking is available, and the hotel is close to the dyke, shopping streets, etc. We will return with great pleasure!

Too expensive for what you get - and zero service when complaining

We stayed in a more expensive room here on August 4th, but unfortunately the stay did not meet expectations (or the price) in the slightest.
Upon arrival, we found cigarette butts on the balcony and the curtains did not work properly. In addition, the low water pressure in the shower is a structural problem that the hotel is aware of ("a known problem," they later admitted). You pay the top price, but get rooms with known defects.

Because we arrived late and our young daughter of 2 years was already asleep, we chose to inform the reception about it upon checking out, instead of causing a fuss all evening. The hotel is now using this as an excuse to refuse any form of compensation ("you should have reported it during your stay"). They acknowledge all defects in writing, but take no responsibility for the delivered breach of contract.
The small gift for our daughter at the reception was well-intentioned, but it doesn't make up for the disappointing state of the room and the lax attitude of the management. No more Mercure Ostend for us; there are better options on the coast where you get what you pay for.

Nice for a night

Small scale hotel. Not comparable to the modern new mercure hotels such as Blankenberge.
We had the privilege room on floor 9. This should be the nicest room. Room is dated with some defects.
Holder shampoo in shower lay in shower on the floor. There were no stops on the curtain rails so the curtains literally fell down when you drew them. Terran disappointing. An old bench in plastic and false grass. Nice sea view though!
Bed is a bit hard in terms of mattress but that is personal.
There was no mineral water available that is offered for free in the app. No milks and sloppy coffee corner either.
The receptionists are super professional and friendly. That deserves kudos. We didn't have breakfast. I find the price many tr high for the quality offered.
