delightful place & hosts

We had 5 days in Barra da Lagoa in Florianopolis and thoroughly enjoyed staying with Carlos & Heloisa. They are such friendly, helpful and warm people and the pousada (inn) is pretty, well maintained and clean. It's a few minutes' walk from the beach and the bus stops (for trips to Conceicao and Floripa centro). Carlos picked us up from the main bus stop, which was actually very close to their pousada - but we had lots of gear so that was appreciated. Heloisa checked in on us regularly to see if we needed anything eg clean towels, and was helpful in directing us to cafes, laundrettes etc. We speak Spanish and English and were able to communicate well enough - we were learning Portugese and Heloisa is taking English classes. The main bummer about our trip was that it was the beginning of winter so many places in the town were closed, and it rained solidly for 4 out of the 5 days - nothing you could do about that ... ** Note that payment is in cash only **

Hidden gem one street from Barra de Lagoa Beach

What can I say about his lovely place? Well, let me start by saying how fantastic the owners are. They really are great, they helped us with directions, buses, fishmongers, where to go and what to do. Ultimate hosts? Very nearly! Our lack of Portuguese was annoying but the lady spoke passable English so we were ok there.
We stayed in room 6 which was a 1 bed apartment with kitchen, bathroom and dining/seating area. The place was immaculate, the whole place looked as if it had been recently renovated. It was only 1 street back from the beach and was in a quiet cul de sac. The kitchen was fully equipped and the equipment was very clean. Oh, there's a fridge and freezer there too.
We were coming to the end of a year long backpacking trip and hadn't booked anywhere and just knocked on the door! We very nearly didn't knock on the door as it looked to expensive for us. We had planned on staying for 1 or 2 nights and ended up staying a week! The price was $40 a night - over budget for us but by shopping in the supermarkets and fishmongers we managed to get by very well.
All in all this place was perfect, the island is beautiful, just hop on a bus and explore.
Don't forget to go to Ostradamus in Ribeirão da Ilha. It's worth the bus ride as it serves some sensational oysters! We spent a whole afternoon there eating ourselves silly!

Un mal recuerdo

Guiada por los comentarios, elegí esta pousada para alojarnos en familia.
Si bien se trata de un lugar limpio y cercano a la playa, tuvimos una serie de momentos desagradables con el encargado de la pousada quien tuvo actitudes desconsideradas e intransigentes.
Durante nuestra estadía, se realizó el service del aire acondicionado del depto por lo que perdimos una mañana de playa en esta tarea. Creo que este trabajo debería realizarse fuera de temporada o sin huéspedes.
Hay algunas normas excesivamente estrictas sobre el horario para silencio absoluto a partir de hs 22. Fui testigo de un reclamo a un huesped porque su hijo pequeño había llorado a las 22 y 30. Inaudito.
El confort del edificio se ve opacado, en mi opinión, por episodios de falta de comunicación con el responsable de la posada quien estuvo ausente cuando lo necesitamos.
No volvería y no recomiendo este lugar.

Excelente y 100% recomendable!!

Prolija, limpia, segura, bonita y con todos los detalles para pasar una estadia genial!! como esta ubicada en calle sin salida, es super tranquila. A 2 cuadras de la playa, y a 1 de un supermercado que sirve para provisiones.
Los dueños super amables y atentos. Excelente precio y sin problemas para la reserva y pago.Lo recomiendo totalmente. Y volvería sin dudarlo!!!

Cómo en casa

La posada es excelente, limpia, prolija y segura.
En todos los años en los que fui, nunca tuve un inconveniente.
Eloísa y Carlos, los dueños del lugar, son muy agradables y atentos a lo que uno pudiera necesitar.
