Great!

Booked just an hour before my 3-hour flight, and everything was handled smoothly. The response was quick, and the airport pickup I requested was waiting on arrival. The location in Kiulap was excellent. As a solo female traveller, I felt safe walking around at night, and there were plenty of shops, a supermarket, ATMs and places to buy a SIM card nearby. I also walked back from Gadong Night Market around 8 p.m. and felt perfectly safe. It was easy to get around using the Dart taxi app (cash only), with most rides costing BND 5.50 and the airport BND 10. They also organise affordable boat tours from a jetty just a minute away, passing through Kampong Ayer, looking for crocodiles and proboscis monkeys, and going under the Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Bridge, one of the longest bridges in Southeast Asia. The gentleman on the evening shift (didn't get his name :-( ) was exceptionally friendly and gave great recommendations on what to see, where to eat, and which local dishes to try. The room was larger and nicer than expected, the hot water and AC worked well, and the breakfast was delicious. I didn't get a chance to use the gym, but overall this was an excellent last-minute booking and a great base for exploring Bandar Seri Begawan.

Give it a go

Good hotel, clean, staff excellent super friendly and hospitable. The hotel is not westernised so if you leave those expectations at the door you will be fine. An example being breakfast being perceived as basic it’s just an alternative approach.
The rooms spacious and clean.
The location is suitable between the centre and the night market and as previous reviews refer right near to a jetty for exploring the water area.
We had the unfortunate experience of a family who literally let their children run free in the corridors till quite late with absolutely no discipline. Not the hotels fault but they spoke to the family about it and things like that go a long way. Not that they listened!

Solo traveler

Stay for 3 nights. Friendly, polite and courtesy staffs. Even the hotel is outdated but most importantly is clean. Breakfast is basic. It provide airport transfer to and fro with minimal surcharge of 20 dollars one-way. Nearby with shops, bakery, but i was there during Syawal, most shops closed. Safe environment.
i definitely return next year March during Syawal.

Comfortable Hotel for Tourists Visiting Brunei ⭐⭐⭐

What's good in Al-Afiah Hotel :
1) Boat cruise basically, the only hotel in Brunei that provides boat cruise where you can explore the water village or explore wildlife sightseeing.
2) Airport transport you can arrange via online before arriving to Brunei or meet the reception to book transportation. Price 20bnd per way.
3) Laundry service definitely convenient especially for longer stay.
4) Has a mini gym
5) The lobby upstairs is a nice place to relax, with seating and a PC for guests who need to do some quick work or research. ️
6) Good location : Near to City Centre, Nearby ATM few blocks from the hotel, many restaurants nearby.

Great breakfast, helpful super friendly staff, convenient guest car for drop off at tourist spots (fee) and airport transport. Near the river with own jetty and boat tours. (Fee)
