Papa george

Our experiance was great from start to finish papa george the owner couldnt have done anymore to make our stay more comfortable,
From making the breakfast which was very noce to having the sauna ready for us to return to after a day of boarding to help with the aches, also some home remedies with his milk to help moisturise the dry skin was a nice and humerous touch.
plus the resort was great also has something for everyone.

Not perfect for a ski holiday…

Having read the reviews I can only say this hôtel left us feeling underwhelmed.
Our experience was as follows:
The main downside was the true distance from the slopes and as we booked this hotel as part of a skiing holiday, it’s a fairly big factor.
The distance is advertised as being a 7 minute walk to the slopes. It is not. It is between 14-16 minutes walk up hill. Not to be sniffed at.
Whilst advertised as a friendly hotel, I can say we didn’t see a single member of staff until day 4 of our holiday. Granted we left early every day to avoid the massive gondola queues but even so, still nobody around on our return in the afternoon.
There is no reception or cosy lounge at all.
Did not see the bar area open at all.
Plus points were a huge room with a kettle etc, nice and clean, plenty of hot water and nice and quiet.
We did finally meet the owners on night 4, when I was given a jug of home made red wine which was nice.
I would not recommend this hotel if skiing unless you like a hike in the morning but would if you are there to visit Bansko. It’s in a nice location for sight seeing as it’s in the old quarter which is lovely, just not great for skiers!

Comfortable and welcoming

I read the tripadvisor reviews prior to booking and found it hard to believe them. However they were true. George is a marvellous host , very welcoming and generous with his homemade raki. The rooms ( we were in 1A) are simple but have everything you need - storage, warmth, comfortable bed and hot water. Breakfast was a little different - hard boiled egg, cheese, drop pancakes and jam. We only had this once as there are many places in town for more conventional foods. The hotels location is good for the modern town as well as the old one. Thank you George.

Great for families

Very friendly owners, clean rooms and great location. 10 min walk to gondola, 5 min walk to the old town. Truly beautiful place to visit.
If you are skiing, I recommend Pirin2000 for equipment and lessons, I also recommend Assen as your instructo- the best out there.

You must stay here - you wont regret it!!!!!!!!!!

We visited in Feb 2022 with our family of 4. My 6 year old was immediately greeted and given a guided tour of the place by Georgi the owner. He was the warmest most loveliest genuine guy and made us feel like we were extremely welcome. He was giving my little boy treats all throughout our stay and the two of them had a real bond. It was sweet and you could see that this was just a genuine guy being himself. We had an apartment and a deluxe room and both were comfy and well equipped and spotlessly clean. We couldn't believe that even the cleaner did our dishes that we planned to do after skiing. Its a short walk to the town and on a lovely street. It really is a little gem of a place that we will for sure return to. The rooms were very warm and the balconies were a bonus. I thoroughly enjoyed a beer on the balcony after a hard day on the slopes. Stay here, you wont regret it! Thanks so much for a great stay Georgi, we will see you again soon........Andy, Bella, Leo & Toby :)
