It’s a great location and spacious room. AC was pretty functional too thankfully. Building itself is kinda run down and you need someone to let you in the main door and then there’s a regular key for your room. Breakfast was kinda sparse so I didn’t get anything but coffee was really good. I’d book again.

The location in downtown was fantastic and the building has great charm. The room was fairly clean and well maintained, no bugs or dirt. The shared shower was equally clean, and the sink in the room was much appreciated. My only real complaint would be the beds, the mattresses were atrocious (thin, springs sticking out, essentially sleeping on the wooden frame) and the pillows were hit or miss (mine was okay but my partners was paper-thin). I would have given this a solid 4 or 5 for the location and charm alone but I'm really feeling the repercussions of that 3-night sleep on wooden planks and squeaky metal springs. This place has such amazing potential, would love to see it get the updates it deserves! Regardless, thank you for a memorable trip. À tantôt, Hotel Abri Du Voyageur!

It was actually pretty good for what it is. I was impressed with the cleanliness. I would say that the mattresses should be updated. They were very cheap and uncomfortable. They also could have moved the furniture around so that the television is at the foot of the bed and viewable to both people in the room and lastly...... clean up and repaint that damn stairway. The hotel needs a lot of work. Our toilet seat and bathroom mirror were broken, the window screen was torn off and one window was open with window air conditioner on; we discovered this on day 2. Windows and ac were dirty, mattress cover was ripped and pillows were dirty. There was 1 coffee cup, 2 glasses and 1 plate in the kitchen. The “breakfast” consisted of coffee, toast and 3 types of dry cereals. The carpet into the lobby was dirty and worn. The sheets, bathroom and kitchen were clean, and staff was attentive and friendly.

The photo from the booking site is nothing like IRL. The very first impression of the place as we stepped into the staircase is of a hostel out of a low-budget slasher flick where nobody survives the stay. The SMELL, the FLOOR, the barely-secure lock. Oh and the washroom is outside in the hallway without a stall door for the toilet.
We looked at trading up twice to another room for an extra $30 and then $60 respectively but each “upgrade” is actually worse than the last. The stairs are non-code compliant death-fall traps.
We request cancellation on-the-spot but the staff declined ANY refunds although we booked for 2-days stay.
We ended up paying-but-not-staying, opted to look for less accursed accommodation. The Hilton Garden Inn where we ended up staying at cost us another rental but luckily just slightly more expensive @ 40$ more per night.
I have stayed at some really rundown accommodations in very sketchy places but this is the first one that I have ever refused to stay at.
If the site photos seem acceptable, note that they are VERY, VERY NOT ACCURATE. Do not book.
Sorry no photos to show, they are nightmare-inducing enough as-is. Didn’t want to chance paranormal stuff.
