Shut hotel - failed to inform customers it had shut

Booked this hotel through hotel.com last year. Neither business told me they were shut - even though had paid them!! When I eventually found out the day before I was due to go there they had the temerity to say they wouldn't charge me for cancellation.
I didn't cancel, you shut and kept my money and didn't tell me. Strongly suggest nobody stays here if they do reopen if this is the way they treat people

your complaint should be addressed to the hotels.com as they are in charge of the reservations until you arrive at the hotel. We did everything we were supposed to do on our end regarding the cancellation and we did it on time.
Nevertheless, I am sorry for your inconvenience, we always assist our guests any way we can regardless of the actual responsibility for the issue as it was in this case.

Basic Soviet Era Hotel!

A satisfactory, basic, budget hotel in an extremely expensive city. At over £110 per night (including breakfast) it’s not cheap but compared to Dubrovnik prices it’s on the low side. The hotel is old fashioned and has a soviet era whiff about it but I had no major complaints. It is located 15 minutes by bus from the old town and has an excellent outlook. Breakfast is quite satisfactory although Wi-Fi is extremely slow and my room could do with a swift renovation! Overall, basic, clean, old-fashioned but adequate.

Poor

Dilapidated hotel, the rooms are poorly insulated so there is a lot of noise from the neighborhood.
Breakfast is barely acceptable, with stale fruit and pastries.
The location close to the port and bus lines is good.
One night is enough.

Not a good experience

When asked about a fridge in the room I was told "all rooms have it but most are not functioning". As part of an organized bike and hike trip we ended up at this hotel on our way out of Croatia. Broken plugs, malfunctioning showers, mediocre breakfast. The only thing this hotel has for it is the location, on the harbor, next to where all the day cruised dock. I would never book this hotel again unless under new and improved management.

Just arrived and initial observation

If you are travelling with a CPAP machine be aware NO outlets beside beds, never experienced this in a hotel had to get an extension cord to weave through/under bed! Very very primitive and dangerous.
Rooms are extremely basic and beds are more or less like roll away cots and not actual beds. Kind of shocking
Had emailed hotel in advance several time with no reply and when enquired at check in regarding lack of response was basically given a shrug and said “that’s our sales office not hotel” this is email address listed on website so hence the one l used.
Overall not a great start to Dubrovnik visit, further complaints to be directed to Air Transat vacation that choose this property
I personally would avoid based on first impressions
