We traveled with an assistant dog, so we booked the big suite. It was not cheap, I had to say, yet the staffs were very warm, kind and helpful! Their efforts did make us feeling welcome. The prices included breakfast and it had high quality of cheeses, cold cuts and smoked salmon. There were scrambled and boiled eggs, smoothies, fresh pastry…etc all were delicious! The hotel location was fantastic too. We were in the center so we walked everywhere. There were some noises outside because we opened the windows for the time we stayed there, but it didn’t bother us. If someone was sensitive with noises, just closed the windows or used the ear plugs in the room. We liked to thank the hotel for their hospitality!

Honest review - hotel needs to be upfront with travellers.
1. At no point were we told that renovation will be going on and there will be considerable noise.
2. There are two separate sets of steps to reach the rooms. After going up the lift. God forbid you’re carrying heavy suitcases. Or have mobility issues. Again - no mention of this in hotels communication.
3. Trainee staff forgot to give us the second room keys
4. Amenities in room are non existent. Can’t make a cup or tea or coffee.
5. Rooms are tiny and basically finished.
In summary - End up paying a lot of money for 2 star experience

They gave us a room in what I suspect was the «dog»-row, since we travel with our dog. And our room was not nice at all. It was tired, uninspired and with a mishmash of different furnitures that made no sence. TV was from another era, and, well; the picture I took in the would say it all.

Historic Charm Meets Modern Comfort: A Mixed but Pleasant Stay
The First Hotel Grand Odense is a hotel with an impressive history dating back to the late 19th century. Over the decades, it has been expanded and modernized, giving the building a unique blend of historic charm and contemporary comfort. However, the various additions and renovations have resulted in somewhat long and cumbersome pathways within the hotel, as well as an inconsistent look and feel—a minor drawback that also contributes to the hotel’s character.
Room & Amenities
My room was spacious, featuring a comfortable couch and a safe. Unfortunately, there was no refrigerator, which would have been practical for longer stays. The bed was very comfortable and inviting for relaxation. However, the lack of air conditioning was an issue: with the high temperatures during my stay, the room became quite warm. To make matters worse, one window could not be opened—and it wasn’t repaired during my stay—limiting ventilation and exacerbating the heat.
Breakfast & Service
The continental breakfast was a highlight: a generous buffet in a beautiful, historic dining room with a good selection of local specialties. The only downside was the single coffee machine, which led to short waits during peak times.
The service was consistently friendly and helpful—from the quick check-in and check-out to the small attentions throughout my stay. The staff made my experience pleasant.
Location & Surroundings
The central location of the hotel is ideal for exploring Odense. However, it was a bit noisy on the weekend due to the open windows (and the lack of air conditioning), as the street in front of the hotel is quite lively. A clearly marked unloading zone for guests with luggage would have been helpful, as it wasn’t immediately obvious where to find it.
Leisure Facilities
The fitness center was decently equipped, though towels and a drink dispenser would have enhanced the comfort.

Have seen their best days
Slim and rocking bed. Just a thin pillow. Loud music from other parts of the building until midnight. Not even a stool to sit on in the room. Separate taps for hot and cold water. The hotel didn’t warn us that the whole centre was closed for a marathon the following day, so we were forced to park 2km away and drag our bags all the way.

Vi beklagar även att du upplevde störande ljud från andra delar av byggnaden fram till midnatt. Som stadshotell mitt i centrala Odense kan det vid vissa tillfällen förekomma aktivitet i huset eller i närområdet, men självklart ska våra gäster kunna känna sig bekväma och få en god natts sömn.
Gällande rummets inredning varierar möblering och utrustning mellan våra olika rumskategorier. Vi förstår dock att avsaknaden av en stol eller pall gjorde rummet mindre praktiskt för dig, och vi uppskattar att du uppmärksammar oss på detta.
De separata kranarna för varmt och kallt vatten är en del av byggnadens äldre installationer. Som ett historiskt hotell från 1897 finns det vissa ursprungliga detaljer som fortfarande är bevarade. Samtidigt är vi medvetna om att sådana lösningar kan upplevas mindre moderna jämfört med vad många gäster förväntar sig idag.
Vad gäller maratonloppet beklagar vi särskilt den frustration detta verkar ha orsakat. Evenemanget arrangerades av staden och medförde omfattande avspärrningar i centrala Odense. Vi försöker alltid informera våra gäster om större evenemang när vi har tillräcklig information i förväg, men i detta fall har vi uppenbarligen inte lyckats nå fram med informationen till dig. Att behöva parkera långt från hotellet och transportera bagaget en längre sträcka är naturligtvis inte den start på vistelsen vi önskar att våra gäster ska få.
