Good based you don’t want to stay in the park itself

Reasonably priced accommodation on the edge of town but a close enough walk to eateries. Super easy access to Cotopaxi National Park (about a 40 minute drive away). Family run, owner speaks excellent English and is also a mountain guide. Breakfast was plentiful (typical Ecuadorean breakfast of eggs and fruit with yogurt and granola).
Secure parking behind a gate that has clearance of at least 2.4m.

We felt like part of the village, being the only gringos there, and Janeth and Diego helping us with organising.

Janeth gave us a very warm welcome and was super patient with my limited Spanish. Nice common area and room also clean and comfortable. Diego was super organized and helpful with arranging acclimatization walks and climbs and gear rental. We were so thrilled with being introduced to the Chagra festival and them sharing their drinks with us. A highlight of our trip. Couldn’t recommend anybody better for people who want to use it as base for climbing the volcanoes.

Top price / performance

It is a spacious, clean hostel with attentive staff, good beds and very good common rooms and garden seating.
Machachi is ideal if you want to visit the other volcanoes in addition to Cotopaxi, which usually do not require ice equipment. The village is also typical and the people are very friendly.

Felt like home.

The owners are super nice and the comunication was easy. They gave us a lot of information about the area. The accomodation was clean and comfy. They put a lot of love in their house and garden. We can highly recommend stay there to explore this explore beautiful part of the word.

Perfect stay

Everything was perfect! I had a great stay here. The bed was super comfortable, big rooms, nice breakfast. The owners were super friendly, took me to a shop and dropped me off at a meeting point where I got picked up. Highly recommend! Hope to come back one day:) Muchas gracias por todo!
