Great experience
I stayed at Jean’s Home in Puerto Ayora for a few days and had a very pleasant experience. The place is quiet, well-maintained, and ideal if you’re looking to relax away from the busier parts of town.
What stood out most was the atmosphere—calm, quiet, and comfortable, making it easy to unwind after a day out. The accommodation itself was clean and had everything I needed for a short stay.
The location is also very convenient: close to Playa de los Alemanes and only a short water taxi ride from the waterfront, so you get both easy access and a more peaceful setting.
Gundi, the host, was exceptionally kind and accommodating. She made sure everything was taken care of and was always approachable, which added a personal and welcoming touch to the stay.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Jean’s Home to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable, and well-hosted place in Puerto Ayora.

A garden oasis in Santa Cruz
We spent five lovely nights at Jean’s Home. It is perfectly situated on the quiet side of Santa Cruz, a short water taxi away from the main port. There are three excellent restaurants close by, and it is very charming exploring the paths and area by Finch Bay. Gundi met us at the port and explained the water taxis. She made us amazing breakfasts every day. It was fascinating to hear the local history. Jean’s Home is immaculately clean with everything you need. We really enjoyed the fresh night breezes with screened windows. Sitting on the terrace in the early evenings was a delight, watching the egrets fly overhead back to the mangroves, the setting sun making them look pinkish. Gundi helped us to arrange local tours. We really enjoyed our private tour with Nathalie, who tailored a tour to our specific desires (focused on local birds and tortoises). We highly recommend a visit to Jean’s Home!

A great choice
As others have said, this place is outstanding. The owner, Gundi, couldn't be more helpful. Leading up to our arrival we exchanged several emails. She was more than happy to answer all of my questions about the islands and the city. She met us at the pier when we arrived to be sure we could find our way. Once there, she helped arrange all of the day tours that we wanted. She has negotiated a special rate with some cab drivers ($12/hr at the time of this review) who served us well during our trek to Los Gemelos, the Tortuga reserve, Cerro Mesa and the lava tubes.
The accommodations were terrific too. We stayed in the main house. Our room was plenty big and the air conditioning worked well. It was very well insulated and the bed was comfortable. There was always plenty of hot water and it was thoroughly cleaned each day. One other nice touch is that there is no set time for breakfast. Gundi prepares it at the time you designate.
I don't think we couldn't have made a better choice.

A gem in Puerto Ayora :o)
What a great place Jean's Home is! And it is not only about the place: it is Gundi - the host, history, peace, relax.... Let me tell you about it. We stayed there with 3 kids. My husband was like a camel carrying the backpacks and bags, but it was worth the effort :o). Jean's home is located in Punta Estrada, part of Puerto Ayora that is only accessible by water taxi (1 USD). Short ride, but fun and adventure especially for kids! Than you walk 5 minutes through peaceful, narrow paths to get to the house. The house has a great history (ask Gundi), is spacious, with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and living room. Clean and spotless. Perfect for the family! They are also bungalows. The kids were playing outside in the big garden, they loved the 2 cats that live there. After coming from the Playa de los Alemanes (5 min. away) they were rinsing themselves with the buckets, this was priceless! Life like in the old times.... although there is internet, do not worry :o) Gundi was so helpful with everything, giving us good advice where to go, the prices, which boat to choose to Bartolome etc. She was born in Galapagos, her parents where one of the first settlers, it was amazing to hear all the stories from the past. There is so much to do in Santa Cruz. Thank you Gundi! Go to Galapagos before it is too late...I attach some photos to complete the trip advisor gallery on that property.

The best place in Puerto Ayora
Jean's Home has a wonderful quiet location, away from the bustle of Puerto Ayora yet only ten minutes from the central dock via water taxi. A five-minute walk takes you to a small, calm beach where you can see marine iguanas, sealions, pelicans and crabs. Also nearby is a pleasant restaurant overlooking the harbour at the taxi stop.
Gundi is an expert and kind hostess, always happy to share a wealth of information about tourism and the islands. The rooms are well-equipped, with air conditioning, WiFi, and shady verandas outside.
We arrived seeking a peaceful 3-day break before our cruise and our stay exceeded our high expectations based on previous reviews. Gundi even washed and dried our clothes!
