Adorable and Best experience in Taveuni
This was the most peaceful, welcoming, and heartwarming place we stayed during our time in Fiji.
The owners, Katherine and Rod, are truly exceptional people. Their kindness, care, and genuine hospitality made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The warmth they showed us will remain in our hearts forever.
The property is beautifully maintained, with lush tropical gardens, stunning views, and impeccable cleanliness throughout. Our accommodation was spotless and in excellent condition. Everything-from the doors and shutters to the shower, kitchen, and furnishings-was well maintained and cared for. You can truly feel the pride and attention that goes into every detail.
As someone who works remotely, reliable internet is very important to me, and the Wi-Fi here was excellent. We also appreciated the peaceful atmosphere, warm lighting, comfortable living spaces, strong water pressure in the shower, and a fully equipped kitchen with everything needed for a comfortable stay.
The staff were always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with anything we needed.
The restaurant menu is not large, but it is thoughtfully designed and offers something for everyone. My partner has special dietary requirements, and the team was more than happy to accommodate them. We were genuinely impressed by their flexibility and care. The chefs and waitstaff were incredibly kind and professional.
The value for money is outstanding and, in our opinion, among the best on Taveuni. There is also a grocery store and a beautiful beach nearby, making the location very convenient.
This is the perfect place for couples, nature lovers, and anyone seeking peace, privacy, and relaxation away from crowds and noise.
A very special thank you to Katherine and Rod. We will never forget your hospitality and the wonderful memories you helped create. You gave us one of the most positive and meaningful experiences of our time on Taveuni, and we cannot wait to return.

Lovely 3 night stay
We had a delightful stay at the Aroha. Kathryn and Rod, the onsite owners were wonderful. There are only 6 beachfront units on the site so it is very quiet and relaxed. The bure was very comfortable with an oversized king bed, an open air front porch and an enclosed private outdoor shower. The onsite restaurant food was good with daily “specials,” as well as a varied menu. Wood fire pizza is a hit, even with the locals. The staff were wonderful, they introduced themselves and remembered our names. The weather was not very cooperative but we did get in one morning of snorkeling at the rainbow reef and coral gardens that Kathryn helped us arrange. We would highly recommend this small and beautiful resort.

Fantastic Resort to explore Taveuni from
Fantastic Resort with a great onsite restaurant! We stayed for a few nights with 2 other couples before going to a dive resort in May 2026. I highly recommend staying there to get acclimated to the time change and a base for exporting Taveuni island.
The hosts/owners, Katheryn and Rod take care of all your needs and arrange the must see waterfall tours. The rooms are large with very comfortable beds.
We ate all meals at the on-site restaurant that has a great menu and prices. All meals were super good! For the next week we were all missing the pizza and the sandwiches they packed for our tour lunch!
Again, I can’t recommend the Aroha enough. We look forward to returning.

Paradise on the garden island
Our week-long stay was terrific. Katherine and Rod, the owners, are wonderful hosts. They have built something very special. The staff, the rooms and the setting are great.
The moment we landed we were greeted by their driver. He helped us with our luggage and within 20 minutes we arrived at the resort. We were greeted by Katherine who showed us around and helped us with planning activities and took care of all the related coordination and bookings. One important note is that at least ~24 hours’ notice is needed for most activities so keep that in mind. The tours we chose were the Lavena coastal walk, a visit to Bobby’s farm, Bird watching and snorkeling on Rainbow reef (twice). Everything was outstanding. Many of the operators only take cash which we were able to get at an ATM that is in a town about 10 minutes way by car.
We found the location to be perfect. It is positioned within walking distance of the waterslide, the International Date Line and the hike to the White Cross (about a 1.5-hour hike). There are also a couple of small stores and a bakery only a 5-minute walk away. The view across the channel is stunning and we enjoyed beautiful sunsets looking over its expanse most evenings. The only pier on the island is adjacent to the resort. We had fun watching the ferries come and go. It might be possible to catch one to Vanua Levu, but we didn’t explore that option.
The grounds are beautiful and are immaculately kept. The beach out front was fun to walk along during low tide. The pool was very nice and towels and lawn chairs are available. There are also kayaks and SUP’s for the guests to use. There is a reef in front of the lodge is good for snorkeling if you have your own equipment.
We stayed in bure 3 which is an end unit. Each bure has lots of room and plenty of storage. The sleeping area can be isolated from the outdoors and has an ac unit that is more than adequate to cool the space. Bure 3 has an oversize king bed and an outdoor shower. It was equipped with a large refrigerator, a microwave, a water kettle, a French press (coffee and tea included) and dishes. Streaming is available on the TV and the free Wifi was very fast. The unit is well insulated and we rarely heard our neighbors. We took advantage of their laundry service as well (one large basket for 25 FJD). One thing we unexpectedly came to appreciate was the back up generator. The municipal power went out a couple of times during our stay, but the generator insured that we never went without.
The onsite restaurant was good and the service was outstanding. The menu has a mixture of sandwiches, pizza from a wood fired oven (not to be missed), seafood and 3 daily Fijian specials that didn’t repeat during our stay. We never had a problem getting a table, but some planning may be needed during the busy season. A continental breakfast is included in the room rate which is available from 7am to 9am. They will also pack a to go lunch if you need one for a tour.
Finally, I want to acknowledge the staff. They couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly and they seemed to genuinely care about our comfort. They helped to make our stay unforgettable.

Perfect!
Aroha in Taveuni was one of those rare places that quietly wins you over. The resort is small, peaceful, and beautifully set above the ocean, but what truly makes it special are the owners, Kat and Rod, two warm Australians who run the place with genuine care. My wife and I had dinner there every evening, and each meal felt like being hosted at a friend’s home – fresh food, relaxed atmosphere, and great conversation. It's the kind of place where you slow down without even noticing. If you're looking for a calm, personal base to explore Taveuni, Aroha is perfect.
