Transport from Canayan Airport to Banaue
A big thanks to Rita's for arranging transportation from the Canayan Airport to Banaue. I had zero responses to several requests online and Rita was happy to arrange transport to Banaue and back to Canayan.

Awesome view, gracious host and clean premices
This place is a true gem. Waking up at dawn and witness the sun starting to iluminate the terraces is an experience photos cannot capture. Rita's location is perfect. On top so you can have the best view and also you don't need to go down on perilious steps down for what is actually not as good for view. Germaine (Rita's daughther) runs the place and she is the most caring and attentive host you can hope for. She looks after every detail in the place. Room is super clean and with mosquito nets so you can open the windows wide and enjoy the pure air and the mountain breeze. The food was delicious, freshly made and the local coffee in the morning a treat that you can enjoy with the view. Truly amazing and highly recommended.

The best option!
When we booked at Rita's we didn't know how lucky we were going to be, THE BEST OF OUR TRIP IN THE PHILIPPINES!
Germaine (Rita's daughter and current business owner) was the best host we could have on this adventure around the area. He contacted us before arriving to help us with transportation from Cauayan to there. Everything was easy and it is to be appreciated when you are traveling and tired that someone takes care of you and cares about you like this (more in this not very touristy area and without many facilities).
Germaine helped us organize the back and forth, as well as a treñking through the Rice Terraces. He cares a lot about how the people of the area can share the benefits of the little tourism they have. All his recommendations were excellent (even a restaurant in Banue).
The place is as described (the photo of the cafe is 100% real, judge). Don’t expect luxuries, what you need is mosquito nets, blankets and restaurant service carried by Germaine herself. YES, THE ATMOSPHERE IS UNBEATABLE. Germaine and her family are lovely and make you feel at home from the get-go.
ATTENTION! The location is perfect if you arrive with heavy backpacks. The road does not reach the village and you have to make the last section on foot. The "Rita's Inn" is located at the top of the village, which is also the closest to the road. We didn’t know when we booked and, although on arrival it’s downhill, I don’t know how we would have come back with the backpacks uphill if we stayed at the lower Batad hostels (almost 1h upstairs). Of course you can hire to take your backpacks, but it was not our intention on the trip. It is a very mountainous and steep area.
If you plan a trip to the Philippines, I recommend 100% going through Batad.
If you are sure that you will pass through Batad, I recommend 100% staying at Rita's Inn!

A Time Portal a Panoramic Paradise
Rita’s Mount View Inn, overlooking the ancient rice terraces of Batad (a UNESCO World Heritage Site,) features one of the most stunning views in the world. Framed by giant bamboo and banana palms, the panorama from the dining patio is breathtaking, and alone is worth the trek to this remote mountain village. The innkeeper, Germaine (Rita’s daughter) is delightful, always laughing and smiling and quick to help in so many ways, from cooking up delicious pancakes for breakfast and chicken Adobo for dinner to arranging for the best local guides and trike transportation. With the help of Romeo, her father, who seems sent from central casting to play the part of the mountain sage, they keep the inn immaculately cleaned and welcoming. This is a very special place.
It is also one of the closest accommodations to the Batad parking drop off area. You will be hiking some 25 minutes to get to Rita’s yet you will be very happy that you did not book further down the valley where you have to navigate the rough hewn staircases that are the hallmark of Batad. Just bring what you will need for a few days stay. Backpacks, not luggage.
And steel yourself for one of the most adventurous hiking experience of your life.
Note that the hike into the village is like a portal back in time. Everything in the valley has to carried in over this challenging terrain on the heads, shoulders and backs of the villagers. Everything. Every bottle, every building block, all foodstuff…everything. There are no extravagances. The accommodations throughout Batad are very modest with spartan rooms and common showers and manual toilets. Yet there appears to be a fierce pride in cleanliness, especially at Rita’s, and you are hard pressed to find a scrap of litter anywhere

The place to be!
We spent a little over 2 days in Batad with Roméo and his daughter Germaine. We loved this moment. The place is magnificent! Kind, welcoming and smiling people! A real pleasure to talk with them. The view is sumptuous. Everything is simple there, they give good advice, the food is very good. They will put you in touch with local guides if you need them.
