Accommodations in a surprising location

It gets its name as it is situated smack dab in a working quarry. It has a water dispenser. You choose your breakfast and the time you want it the night before.
If you use hair conditioner, bring your own as it's not provided. Also body lotion if you use it.

Ok accommodation

This place is about 2km from Sagada proper, with very few transportation options. It also offers dinner, but we went downtown. No tv, no safe, however free drinking water (they will bring a pitcher to your room upon request). Our room was next to the lobby, which tended to be noisy with kids playing. Reasonably comfortable bed. Wifi was ok. Floors were not particularly clean, as they were either not properly cleaned or dirt was pushed from one side of the room to the other. Leave key if you want your room made. Bathroom walls and ceiling had mould stains. Cheap laundry service (100 pesos per kilo). The whole place needs lots of tlc and a nice coat of paint. Some street noise. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was decent, even if eggs and bacon were cold. You must pre-order. This is basic accommodation at its best, so you may want to explore one of the many other options in Sagada.

Good and bad

Stayed 2 nights in the room with a fireplace. I've lived in the Philippines for 8 years and stayed 1500+ nights in hotels in my life, to give and barometer of background. The good: food. . Employee smart enough to give at no charge. The hotel is a long walk to the city. They offer a free shuttle which they need to do to compete. Whoooops, sorry sir, no shuttle tonight. AND, we only offer it free 1 time no matter how many nights u stay. Huh? Fireplace, free wood..... But it's "limited". Again, huh? What does that mean? The room we had was not comfortable. Built VERY cheap. Water heater was working slightly, so cool shower. Walls very thin, can hear everything. Only light is a bright bulb in the ceiling. How about a cheap lamp next to the bed? Sheets on the bed come off. Towels are cheap. Soap is cheap. No toilet paper till we asked. TV cable is hanging in the room but no TV. Minor issues, but so easy to fix. Seems the owners don't know how to run a hotel and trying to save money at the guest's expense. After saying all of this, it was better than the 4 we looked at on the main street. I saw many hotels being built away from town. This may give better options and cause improvements to the current hotels. Bottom line, I would not stay here again (key point in a hotel review). Advice to the hotel owners: step up. Improve then market what you have.

It gets the job done

Basic woodsy lodge with about 10-15 rooms located in an isolated location (no walking anywhere but woods), I'm not sure how many hotels there are in this area so I don;t know what the options are. Friendly staff but seem fairly amateur so you have to be patient and explain requests. Construction is thin so it can be noisy depending on the other guests or if they are rearranging restaurant furniture. Clean and spacious rooms. Typical Philippines electric heater on bathroom hot water line worked OK. But there is no heat, so it will be cold in the winter this high in the mountains. I wished I had brought a minimal sleeping bag instead of the silk sleep sack I had.

Rusty Nail Inn and Café: A Wonderful Experience

On my third time (I think) in Sagada in Mountain Province, my team was billeted in Rusty Nail Inn and Café. The facility is located in the highway before the town proper of Sagada. It was a small and well maintained facility that can accommodate big families and group of friends.
The room that was given to me is a twin-sharing room with a matrimonial and single bed. The room was clean and huge, as well as the comfort room.
We had the opportunity to stage our 6-day training in their restaurant. They served Filipino and local viands. For our event, the food was great and they served over flowing coffee, mountain tea, lemongrass tea, hot chocolate and juices.
What I like is the people who are serving and assisting us. From the management until the restaurant servers, they are all friendly and accommodating.
You will going to have a real feel of the local culture in Rusty Nail Inn and Café. A great place to stay in Sagada.
