Excellent

A lovely chateau set in mature woods with well maintained grounds and a small pool. The welcome was friendly, the room extremely comfortable and the breakfast generous and delicious. I would strongly recommend. Excellent restaurant in Lusigny-sur-Barse about 10 minutes away.

Ok this is a difficult review to write. Firstly, the Chateau itself is absolutely stunning. It has recently been renovated and the rooms, in particular the bathrooms are stunning. The grounds are lovely and the pool was just what we needed after a very long drive. The check-in time on our booking was 4.30pm but we ended up getting there an hourly early. Unfortunately the gates were locked and nobody would answer the bell until exactly 4.30pm. We spoke with some other guests who called and asked if they could use the pool while waiting (it was 95 degrees) but the answer was "non". OK fair enough, it's their house but it wasn't the best start. Then comes the difficult part of this review...the hosts. He is absolutely delightful, very friendly and smiley whereas she is quite the opposite. (There were 3 other couples staying and they all mentioned how curt/rude she had been.) Dinner wasn't available as we hadn't booked 48 hours in advance so we drove 10 mins to a nearby town and grabbed a take-away pizza which we ate in the beautiful gardens. The room (mid June) was very hot but we managed to get some sleep with the big windows open. Luckily it was windy so we didn't get bothered by bugs. Breakfast was nice although we did have to ask a couple of times for some essentials (Butter and milk) and we played rock, paper, scissors to see who would have to ask the owner for the same thing twice :) It's an absolutely stunning property but we won't return.

A bubble of happiness!

My partner and I stayed in the Sequoia bubble for one night.
We were warmly welcomed upon our arrival and given excellent advice for our dinner restaurant.
A relaxing setting with the castle park and the pool, a night under the stars in the bubble, quality products for breakfast, and the extreme kindness of our hosts.
We will gladly return!

To be avoided – A dreadful experience

When one treats oneself to a stay in a castle, one expects an enchanted interlude, and it is anything but what we experienced at the Château de Montabert.
Our stay was a nightmare, and the attitude of the hosts completely ruined this weekend.
They displayed extreme rudeness, being neither friendly nor accommodating. They proved to be intrusive and invasive to the point of ruining our privacy. Flexibility is nonexistent: we were blocked outside before the exact check-in time and literally pushed toward the exit before the check-out time. We were even forbidden from enjoying the pool.
The breakfast is a disgrace for such an establishment. The products severely lack freshness. We were served dried Emmental cheese, clearly cut several days ago, and the same half-eaten cake was served again from one day to the next.
The sense of hospitality is completely absent here. You are made to feel that you are a nuisance while they take your money. If you are looking for a moment of relaxation and kindness, and a pool that you will be allowed to enjoy: keep walking.

J vais répondre à votre gentil commentaire désagréable. Comme indiqué lors des réservations: heures d' arrivée16h30-20h00 départ 11h.L veille de votre arrivée le Vendredi vous m'avez contacté par téléphone pour arrivée 14h pour profiter de la piscine ,comme je vous l'ai gentiment dit nous avons des chambres à remettre en état ,nettoyage extérieur a faire ,et courses. Le samedi jour de votre arrivée ,15h vous sonnez a l' interphone ,comme nous n' étions pas sur place ,en courses ,car nous faisons celle-ci au jour le jour pour avoir des produits frais' contrairement évoqué dans votre commentaire .Le petit déjeuner est préparé tous les jours ,le cake confectionné la veille tranché le matin, tous les restes vont aux poules comme vous avez pu le voir il y en a 14.Elles se régale pour donner des bons oeufs
frais' que vous avez pu apprécier aux petits déjeuners en me demandant des oeufs brouillés .Nous vous avons gentiment mis à disposition un antivol pour pouvoir faire le tour des lacs ,vélos que vous vous vouliez sécuriser pendant vos haltes ,appartenant à votre famille. (antivol ?)
Jour du départ ,mon conjoint va vous voir a la piscine à 10h55 pour vous informer que 11h départ ,la chambre n'étant pas disponible. Comme évoqué dans la réservation arrivée à partir de16h30 _départ 11h,chose que vous n' aviez pas l'intention de faire puisque vous pensiez rester jusque fin d' après-midi .Nous n'avons fait aucune intrusion dans votre séjour ,juste pour le départ, il y a des horaires à respecter .Avant votre départ vous m' avez menacé de mauvais commentaires. Heureusement qu'il y a les réseaux sociaux pour déverser votre haine .Un tel comportement est inapproprié.
