Chez Montiz

We stayed at Chez Montiz for four nights during our four week vacation in France. Kat and Steve were charming hosts, always on hand to give advice on places to visit, restaurants and general information on the area. The room was clean and spacious with a lovely view of the mountains. Breakfast was delicious with variety each day. I would recommend Chez Montiz to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday in a beautiful setting.

This friendliness and service is what exemplifies a B&B experience

When arriving in a blasting heat in Montazels in the middle of the afternoon we were welcomed by Steve and Kathy. And we mean really welcomed. They offered us cool drinks, took care of our bicycles and had made sure that our room was ready and cool. And they offered all service one can expect. As soon as we left the room, Kathy was there to ask if we needed something. She advised us on local restaurants and attractions. When returning from the restaurant she invited us to sit on the terrace overlooking Rennes-le-chateau, made sure we had no nuisance from mosquitoes and even offered a glass of wine that the two of them were drinking themselves. A blanket of friendliness but still keeping a comfortable distance so that you can enjoy your own holiday.
The room we had was spacious as was the bathroom. Good, hot shower (which we didn’t exactly need) and two fans (which were more than welcome). Sufficient space for your clothes and baggage and everywhere good lights. Mosquito nets for each of the windows so you could pull up the blinds and open the window once the sun was behind the mountains.
Breakfast we could take any time. As we wanted to leave early the next day, they made use pancakes as the bakery was not yet open. The pancakes were complemented with eggs, yoghurt, fruit salad and homemade jam. All to be enjoyed at the terrace outside with view on the mountains.
Chez Montiz is how a chambre d’hôtes should be: you feel pampered, on holiday, relaxed, befriended and still you can take you own time. Steve and Kathy have chosen the right thing when they came down from Yorkshire a couple of years ago to share their home with travellers. With a bonus of Steve’s large collection of Oldsmobiles and motorbikes and Kathy’s just perfect servility.
