Acceptable hotel for a one-night stay.
Despite this major drawback, the room is okay. The television is small and aging but okay for one night, the bed is "comfortable," and the shower is equipped with shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner.
Another problem, an air conditioning unit that needs a serious overhaul (very noisy) and proximity to the other rooms on the floor that forces us to listen to the daily lives of other travelers.

Questionable cleanliness.
A very significant price for an offer that is more than average.
Overall disappointing.

An Insult to the “Parisian Style.”
That said, this review will lay out the facts about only one room. Some aspects can surely be attributed to more than just this one room while others are room-specific. I believe where one room is problematic, it's likely others have similar issues. You decide.
I will simply list the observations.
1. The website photos are clearly enhanced in terms of coloring, brightness, as well as photographed with a marvelous fish-eye lens. Never trust photos…
2. The website does not give room dimensions for the smaller rooms, one of which I used. Always look for what ISN’T said…
3. The small bathroom sink is located beneath the mirror, which extends from the wall. There’s a good chance that your forehead will hit the mirror when you lean forward to spit.
4. The sinks’ water valve is located immediately below the antique 1970’s hair dryer. If you’re not careful, you can easily bump the hair dryer hose which causes the machine to start up unintentionally.
5. The showerhead, which is detachable, aims at the bathroom floor unless you dedicate yourself to holding the sprayer in one hand, strategically avoiding some angles, throughout the shower.
6. The shower includes pump bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. One was empty and the other was a shampoo bottle renamed with a marking pen as “body wash.”
7. The shower floor includes an elevated tiled lip that just happens to be where you stand if you’re trying to avoid soaking the regular floor beyond the shower.
8. The bathroom is so small it takes effort to dry off without striking something or punching the wall.
9. There is minimal flat surface area in the bathroom to place your items.
10. The light in the bathroom is behind you as you’re facing mirror. Putting on make-up or shaving in your own shadow becomes a challenge.
11. A flyer posted in the (miniscule) elevator warned guests that steamy showers can trigger the hotels’ fire alarm.
12. The towels were thin enough that you could practically see through them when they were wet.
13. A bathroom door the squeaks loudly (I checked – about 75 dB) and does not latch without concerted effort.
14. The room was “cleaned” but, apparently, the shower mold was not noticed in any of their visits. They lined the trashcan with a plastic bag that was stretched like a membrane of the drum across the top. It’s difficult to throw things out when they bounce off onto the floor…
15. The room has a thermostat control that is antiquated and is so worn that the press buttons don’t always engage the switches. There's a good deal of effort required to adjust. It doesn’t help that one control button can literally come off the panel.
16. The square footage of the room is about 10 square meters, equal to about 100 square feet. That’s less than two average cars parking spaces side-by-side. But the room isn’t square. It’s an “L” with a curved wall. The result is unusable floor space because you need to be able to walk in the room.
17. There's no room to set up more than one small suitcase without compromising walking room, desk access, the accessing the closet. Not good for two people.
18. The double bed is very hard. Not good for two people.
19. The pillows are as thin as crepes. The bed has two pillows. Not good for two people.
20. The hotel doesn’t have enough inventory to add a pillow on request.
21. I developed contact dermatitis on my legs after two nights. The only things my legs contacted was my personal soaps, my personal clothes, and their and sheets…
22. A closet is too short to hang a full-length dress.
23. You can’t close the curtains without moving the desk which further blocks the room.
24. The “courtyard” view, while quieter than the street side, I’m sure, consists of a wall sporting several large vent pipes for a restaurant that serves pungent dishes.
25. The location of the hotel is good if you are a walker or feel okay using the Metro. There are numerous places to eat around the hotel and good access to Gare Montparnasse.
26. The front desk was staffed by variously capable but uniformly unauthorized employees to address my concerns.
I expressed my concerns to the management directly and was met with, “The room is decorated in the ‘Parisian Style’.” I think Paris would be embarrassed to have their wonderful city associated with such a dilapidated, ill-maintained, and poorly designed property, led by an apparently oblivious management. For those that have recently expressed their disappointments with Trip Advisor, it is telling that the management is quick to blame the guest. I expect the same treatment but leave to the reader to judge.
