Anti sanitary, not competent stuff, dirty hotel

This was, without question, the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced.
From the moment we arrived, things started badly. We had specifically contacted the hotel in advance because we were attending a wedding celebration and needed to get ready on time. Despite explaining how important this was, our room was not ready at the advertised check-in time of 2:00 p.m. In fact, we received our room around 20 minutes late, which caused unnecessary stress on an important day.
The staff were unprofessional, and communication was extremely difficult because very few employees spoke English. Simple requests became frustrating conversations, making the entire stay unpleasant.
The biggest issue, however, was the cleanliness—or lack of it. The hotel appeared filthy throughout. There were cobwebs, stains on the walls, dirty mirrors, and visible marks on many surfaces. The table in our room had a sticky substance on it, as if it had not been properly cleaned. The bedsheets had marks and stains that made us question whether they had been changed properly.
The bathroom was equally disappointing. There was visible mould around the bathtub, and the bathtub itself clearly had not been cleaned after the previous guest. Water marks, residue, and signs of previous use were still visible. Towels often felt damp, and at times I genuinely wondered whether they had been properly replaced between uses.
I understand that this is a three-star hotel, and I do not expect luxury. However, basic cleanliness, hygiene, and professionalism should be standard regardless of the hotel's rating. The condition of this property fell far below even the most basic expectations.
I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. If you value cleanliness, professionalism, and a comfortable stay, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. This hotel's standards are unacceptable, and my experience completely spoiled what should have been an enjoyable trip to Paris.

Two star hotel gets a third star for location

The location is very good because it’s a few minutes walk from the Trocadero, offering views of the Eiffel Tower and access to two metro lines. There’s also good air conditioning in the room. If all you need is a place to leave your stuff, lie down, shower & sh*t, even that much isn’t straightforward here.
The shower drain was clogged so the wet floor would fill up with rising water quickly, with no curtain, door or barrier stopping the water from soaking the carpet. On my 2nd night, they added a floor towel as a partial solution.
The shower head itself is old and trickles loudly for a long time after use and the toilet will continue trickling water loudly after flush if you don’t reset the flush button with precision. There’s also constant humming noises from plumbing features etc. so it’s not a quiet night’s sleep.
There was also a major problem with the electrical outlets where they would not charge my phone through an adaptor. A traveller in an unfamiliar city needs to know they can get a good charge quickly and you won’t here. The only functioning outlet was crammed awkwardly underneath an immovable hairdryer feature so both the plumbing and electrics in this building need an upgrade.
I also had an experience checking out where I was misgendered as a trans woman in a dress. If you don’t care what happens to trans people (because you suck), here’s why it’s still relevant to your stay. On the booking form they ask for information you wish to share, and I specified I use she/her pronouns. This was clearly not passed on to the reception staff, various uninterested people in their 20s. So this hotel isn’t going to pay attention to any additional request you make at booking.
You also need to brush up on your French if you’re staying here. I obviously don’t begrudge Parisians knowing their own language better than English but if you’re reasonably expecting front-facing staff of a hotel in a touristy area to understand your English, stay somewhere else.
This is a cheaper place to stay than others but that’s reflected in a lack of engagement from staff, and shabby old features that need upgrading for very basic functions of a hotel room.

Booked a Deluxe, offered a smaller room, told all rooms are “the same.”

I chose Hôtel Le Singulier for its boutique positioning and specifically booked the Double Deluxe (22 m², king-size bed, warm tones) as described on the hotel’s website.
On arrival, the room had a strong sewage / toilet odour and I politely asked for an alternative. The replacement room was visibly smaller and different in style. Checking the hotel’s own website afterwards, it matched the Double Elegance (19 m²) — a different, lower category.
When I raised this calmly with reception, I was first told the two rooms are “the same anyway.” When I pointed out the difference in category and size, the answer shifted: I was told that all the rooms in the hotel are essentially the same and sold at the same price, and that the only larger option is the Triple Suite Kelly.
This is simply not accurate. The hotel’s own website lists six different room categories — Single, Double Classic, Superior Double, Double Elegance, Double Deluxe, Triple Cindy — each with different square meterage (12 to 28 m²), different bed configurations, different amenities, and different prices. They are sold as distinct categories, with distinct photos and descriptions. Being told otherwise by the front desk, while standing in a room that is demonstrably smaller than the one I booked, is the part that has stayed with me — more than the smell, more than the downgrade itself.
There was no apology, no price adjustment, no acknowledgement.
For an 8-room hôtel particulier that markets itself on Parisian elegance and individually decorated rooms, this kind of response is hard to reconcile with the brand. The building is charming and the location is good, but on the basis of this stay I cannot recommend it. If you book the Deluxe, screenshot the room description before you arrive and if you can, verify the room category at check-in.

Do not stay here.
This was rated 3-stars in 2013 and it seems they haven’t cleaned or maintained the rooms since 2013. The first thing we noticed (after being stared at in surprise when we arrived) when we opened the door was the musty smoky smell, followed by the curtains literally ripped off and hanging from the rails. What followed was a discovery of
- Unidentifiable marks on the walls
- Millimetres of dust on the surfaces of the lamps, kettle, coffee machine, and ‘decorative’ boxes that contained spare lightbulbs.
- Mouldy shower tiles
- The coat rail inside the wardrobe is broken and leaning on an angle with the coat hangers falling off
- Large bits of dirt on the un-vacuumed carpets
- A flickering overhead light in the bathroom
- A shower head that somehow leaks?
- A random table or wall lamp, with an unplugged and frayed cable just sitting on the floor underneath the curtains.
But arguably the worst was the stained sheets, with hairs in the bed. Upon arriving at night and exhausted, we immediately asked for Expedia’s help to leave this abysmal room (with photos of evidence provided) but Expedia were absolutely no help with the bookings no-refund policy. We didn’t change our minds, we were disgusted!
We asked reception to change our sheets, which they did, but were replaced with sheets with different stains in different places. At home you can get away with washing sheets with stains on them, in a hotel, you throw them away.
I repeat, do not stay here.

Can do better...

Nice location but lack of maintenance! Cleaning and hospitality clearly leaves something to be desired! Too bad...
