Lovely stay thank you

Rooms clean, good showers but the best part of the stay was Patrice and his staff and the restaurant over the road where breakfast and evening meals were served. Patrice and his staff were brilliant and happy and the food was amazing with large and very tasty potions. A piece of real rural France how it used to be. Loved it!

Bad and pitiful experience

I stayed on 19 and 20 October 2024 (2 nights) at the hotel «Le Falken, Philippsbourg» and here is my opinion, as well as my comments
• On arrival, around 4 pm, no reception. Just a memo on post it, on which the key was placed where it said: "My name, room 6, good installation". The guest to find his room, in dark corridors, where even to insert his key into the lock, it took my flashlight.
• Small air of withdrawn when entering the room. I ventilate and it slowly dissipates. Or you get used to it.
• The bedding is correct, clean, as well as the bathroom.
• The furniture a little old, but surely related to the price.
• On the other hand, big surprise in the evening when going to bed, I discover a mattress chip. I took a photo to attest. I had my heart turned around. Luckily I had taken my sleeping bag with me. I'm good at disinfecting and washing everything on the way home. For there was certainly not only one. I spent the second night in my sleeping bag with some stress.
• After the first night, the room was not made for the second night.
• On a positive note, the cuisine at the same owner’s restaurant opposite the hotel is very good, roborative and hearty. The presence of many customers, many of whom are regulars, testifies to this.
The prices are very reasonable. Nothing to say about catering. It was very good and the service as well as the general and musical atmosphere, provided by the boss and a female employee are pleasant and friendly.
• Unfortunately I have to leave one night earlier, so one night less than planned and booked (I had actually booked 3 nights), for serious family reasons. For the check out, since I see myself having to leave in a hurry, around 4:30-5:00 pm, I go to the reception of the hotel, and surprise, nobody, of course, I expected. I cross the street and go to the restaurant, where, obviously, the owner seemed to be present by virtue of his car parked in front. Nobody either. I try to call, I come across an answering machine. On which I leave a message to announce my departure. Since I have to leave a day early, I decide with confidence, to put enough cash in an envelope that I place under the coffee maker, in the room.
I report again by phone that I left enough money (300 €) only to pay my 2 days bill, as well as the 2 meals, hoping that the balance will be returned to me.
• I was only charged 2 tourist tax units, which attests that I only stayed 2 nights.
• I was contacted the next afternoon by a third person (a common acquaintance) telling me that "I had fled" and left without paying. Attic. Proof that the room hadn't been made the next day, and the boss isn't listening to his messages. I had to explain myself by e-mail and by calling the boss to "reassure" him by pointing out that the provision of money was in the room, under the coffee maker. He confirmed this at the end of the afternoon (the day after I left, then).
• Conclusion: the boss charged me 3 nights when I had actually spent only two. As a general rule, in hotels, all over the world, the final bill is based on the actual stay and not on the booked stay. Because in hotels that walk, where customers are considered a priority, it is not one night less that will jeopardize the trade. Moreover, through an email, the boss informs me of the flower with teeth that he did not charge for breakfast that I intended to have if I had stayed the night planned.
It seems that this is not the case for this hotel. The boss maintains his position by charging me for the night not provided despite all my arguments via e-mails. Finally, one more night without mattress fleas, phew. With the exception of catering, there is much more pleasant as a stay with a pitiful hotel service and unsavory in terms of sanitary (mattress chips).

Dilapidated hotel

We spent two nights with a smartbox in this hotel at the end of May 2024. When I booked I asked for a quiet room, we got a room overlooking the main road, it felt like we were on a highway because there was so much traffic ! In addition, the room smelled musty and damp. We felt a little apart because we had a smartbox for the two evening meals (mandatory meals)
Fortunately the food was good and the waitress was friendly!
This hotel is dilapidated and does not deserve its 3 stars!
Disappointed with our stay

Never again

We wanted to spend New Year's Eve without fireworks, asked at the time of reservation if there were fireworks in the village, it was no. On the spot we noticed that fireworks are sold in the restaurant. Located right on the street, the restaurant opposite. Breakfast was very good. Unfortunately, the room was impossible. The bathroom ice cold, showers impossible. The floor in the bedroom was freezing cold and felt damp. The room uncomfortable, we left after one night.

Yeah, sure.

Comfortable and well appointed room. Beautiful bathroom: large shower, hair dryer. TV, kettle, tea, coffee. Only downside, I found the mattress very hard... On the courtyard side, you can't hear cars or trucks. Everyone will form their review. I liked it.
