Beautiful little hotel

This hotel has such character, and the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome.
Our rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was reasonably priced and had lots of food options.
The hotel is conveniently located near lots of bars and restaurants in Vitré.
Couldn’t ask for more. We will definitely be going back.

Very comfortable and well situated hotel

We stayed one night at this hotel located right next to the Château. Our GPS had no trouble finding it, and there is on-street parking just down the street on the right. The hosts were very pleasant and welcoming and helpful in finding dinner reservations. Our room was a steep climb to the fourth floor, but it was beautiful, bright and spacious with the Château directly across from our window. We were glad to have this room! Bathroom had everything we needed. Breakfast was outstanding: cheese, meats, croissants, banquettes, cereal, yogurt, breakfast cake and cookies and fresh fruit and of course fruit juices and coffee and warm milk—truly delicious!

Very convenient for old town.

Though the outside of the hotel is a bit worn, it is very conveniently located for old town and Château with lots of nearby restaurants and bars. It can be a little noisy at night if your room faces the street/Château as our did but the balcony view is lovely. The breakfast is delicious and the owners were very welcoming and helpful. The proprietor enjoyed a ride in my classic car to the park prive 2 minutes walk away. (€5 extra).

Charm, Hospitality & Great Location in Vitre

Enroute from Brittany to Paris, we stopped to see the historic chateau belonging to Madame de Sevigne. We stayed in the town of Vitre for the night at the Hotel du Chateau. Our 3rd floor room had a magnificent front row view of the Chateau de Vitre. At night the ramparts of the Chateau are lit and it is a dramatic sight! Be prepared to carry your bags up the stairs to get this great view.
The room was comfortable, clean and had the charm of a traditional French hotel. The owners were very accommodating and welcoming. The breakfast selections were well beyond the traditional Continental breakfast and was reasonably priced. The hotel, also reasonably priced, is conveniently located near the train station, restaurants and the historic areas of the beautiful old town. We were also able to park our car near the entrance to the hotel.

The third floor room faced the Chateau

Comfortable, pleasant, good location The third floor room faced the Chateau wall, large windows looked out onto the ramparts of the Chateau, with flags flying and birds swooping around the turrets.
A wide, solid, carpeted and very well constructed spiral staircase, with sturdy handrails wound round to our third floor room, so the stairs were no problem.
The shower room, with ensuite shower,was simply and tastefully decorated, light, bright ,fresh and clean, the rate was reasonable, in all a very pleasant stay
Market day in Vitre is Monday.
