Men's Boxer Briefs Found Among Clean Towels
I stayed at this hotel for two nights at the end of July.
The hotel has a convenient location and a beautiful exterior. However, based on my experience, the standards of housekeeping and service did not meet what I expected from a five-star hotel.
2. Advantages
a. Location
There are many restaurants, supermarkets, and souvenir shops around the hotel. It is also close to Europe Square.
b. Hotel exterior and facilities
The exterior of the hotel is unique and beautiful. The air conditioning in the room worked well, and there were plenty of power outlets and lights.
I had read several reviews mentioning that the carpets were dirty, but the carpet in the room I was assigned was generally clean, apart from a few stains.
3. Disadvantages
a. Noise
The road directly in front of the hotel can be quite noisy. Tour vehicles frequently play loud music, and the noise continued until late at night. Even with the windows closed, the noise could still be heard.
b. Road conditions
The road in front of the hotel is covered with cobblestones, which made it somewhat difficult to carry suitcases.
c. Room condition
There was some dirt around the silicone sealant in the shower. The balcony was also very narrow.
d. Poor Housekeeping
I found a pair of men's boxer briefs among the towels in my room. This raised concerns about the hotel's housekeeping inspection and laundry procedures.
e. Service
e-1. At check-in, the front desk staff told me that I had been assigned a room on a high floor with a good view and a balcony. However, my room was on the second floor and was located directly by the road.
e-2. Handling of the housekeeping issue and compensation
After I reported finding the boxer briefs, the manager offered a complimentary taxi to the airport as compensation. The taxi was to be provided when I checked out at the end of my stay.
However, after checking out, I informed the front desk staff that the hotel had offered me a free taxi to the airport because of the incident. The staff member asked whether the person who had offered the compensation was a hotel employee. Then the staff member checked my room number and, after confirming the details, agreed to arrange the taxi.
There was also another staff member who appeared to be working as a concierge. The concierge told me to use a particular website to arrange the taxi myself. When I asked the concierge for assistance, the only response I received was, “I don't know.”
When I left the hotel, neither the front desk staff nor the concierge said goodbye, offered to help with my luggage, or held the hotel door open for me. This was different from my arrival, when a staff member held the door open for me and a porter carried my luggage to my room.
