Traditional house has charm and elegance
Peaceful location near the outer Alster and waterside restaurants. A nice walk into the city should you wish to. Spotlessly clean, welcoming host and superb breakfast served with refinement and tradition. This traditional house and garden has charm and elegance.

Stylish Hansa Flair
Stylish, old venerable and overall very harmonious, from the pictures to tables/chairs and furniture to the wall fittings! Everything from a single source, no IKEA style
Room small, sufficient, everything clean.
Breakfast good, nice and warm service!
Walk to the dam gate about25-30min, always straight out. Good walk in the morning and evening, alternative easily accessible by U1!

A classy hotel in a great neighborhood
Mittelweg is a very beautiful and quiet place near the city center. Low traffic, large sidewalks, great mansions built 100 years ago.
The grey area of this place is that a lot of these mansions, which originally belonged to Jews, were confiscated by the Nazis and given to Germans, without ever being returned to their owners or their descendants (those who survived) being compensated.
Hotel Mittelweg is one of these mansions, a beautiful building, with spacy, nice, well furnished rooms, very polite and friendly stuff and excellent breakfast in a room taken from another era. Quiet, relaxing, classy, full of memories from a period that should never return.

A favourite place of mine when I am in Hamburg…
I always enjoy my stay at this conveniently located, elegant and charming hotel when I am visiting Hamburg. Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are comfortable and clean. It’s a pleasure to begin the day with breakfast in the beautiful front room. Tables are laid with linen and silver and the atmosphere is relaxing. I will be back.

Historic, but not always in a good way ...
Hotel Mittelweg is a beautiful property in an equally beautiful part of Hamburg and I chose to stay there because of my love for historic buildings. However, there were certain shortcomings that lessened the pleasure of our stay. First off, the staff was very friendly, and the hotel is located near bus and subway stops, making trips to downtown Hamburg very easy and convenient.
However, the rooms are very dated. The bathroom was sparkling clean, but had a shower curtain (eww) and one of those shower/bathtub contraptions that seemed several decades old. In the bedroom, the carpet also covers part of the walls. Maybe this was stylish at one point; now it's a bit strange. I would not be much bothered by this, if it had not been for the SERIOUS lack of sleep quality. While the mattress was comfy, the room was way too hot. We had been given an attic room, which seems to store the summer's heat although it wasn't all that hot during our stay. On both nights we opened the windows for at least three hours and used the room fan - there was no relief. I barely slept the first night due to the stifling temperatures.
As a result, I definitely would not recommend this hotel. It's 2024 and despite the age of the building, some allowances for guest comfort should be made. I mentioned the issue to the nice lady during checkout. A gracious host would perhaps have reduced to final bill a bit, but there was nothing. Sad!
