Best value for money in central Hamburg!
The pension offers probably the best value for money in Hamburg. I was here for a meeting and didn't want to spend 200€ a night just to afford a private bathroom twice fifteen minutes a day. The guesthouse is located two hundred meters from the town hall (it couldn't be more central). The rooms are not small, very clean and modern. The people at the reception are friendly and helpful.

Fantastic location,
But that is also almost the only good thing you can say about the Pension Rathaus.
Well, the place is old, almost a relic from the past, but that’s why it doesn’t have to be “life-threatening”.
You can't avoid the stairs, but the railing doesn't have to be loose on the first long stairwell.
The atmosphere is gloomy, as are the rooms with their 60s linoleum floors.
At some point, the equipment around the sink in the room was replaced, but did not bother to cover the old holes or replace the broken tiles.
The toilet and bathing conditions are one thing in themselves and also a relic from the past.
The fact that you have to share a bath is a well-known condition, but that's why it doesn't have to be miserable. And potentially life-threatening.
The fact that there are bathtubs and they cannot be used as such, as there is neither a plug nor enough warm water to fill the bathroom, makes these dangerous bathtubs quite superfluous.
And the big, ugly bathtubs should be replaced with a shower cubicle, as there is also nothing to hang the shower head from when you shower.
The high boarding height and the wide edge of the tub make it necessary that they should be disposed of as soon as possible...

Positive only for location
I only voted positive for the location which is convenient near the center and well served by public transport.
We had a double bedroom served only with a single sleeping bag, a pillow and a set of towels for one person only, we had to ask double everything specifying that there were two of us. Bed linen has arrived, second towels have not.
Too bad about the toilets. On our floor there was only one bathroom (one toilet!) and not ventilated, which served 5 rooms! Also outside reception hours if you ran out of toilet paper you had to fend for yourself.

Well went so...the price makes you forget the rest
The hotel is cheap and in a great location. Unfortunately there are no parking spaces, which is very annoying and also the processing of the Reservation does not run smoothly at all. You get a lot of mail, probably out of a system, which is unfortunately very annoying. You do everything online including the guest questionnaire, which you can then fill out again on site because the lady at the reception probably has no idea where to find the one filled out online. She only weighs, finding solutions and Seevice living she unfortunately does not seem to be able to.

In the heart of Hamburg
Pension am Rathaus in Hamburg is located right in the city center (next to the HSV fan shop). Everything is within walking distance. Mönkebergstr right next door. Unfortunately, it is often fully booked. So book early. Very reasonably priced and friendly staff. Rooms are small but nice. Not recommended for people with mobility problems as there are only stairs.
