Great castle experience

A beautiful 1000-year-old castle with winding corridors, spiral staircases and long corridors. Greatly furnished rooms with comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Heavenly quiet at night.

One night just went

Were in a renovation phase there, the heating had probably already been off for 14 days. Room very very cold. Room facilities different, partly renovated. Single room was just fine with the stains on the carpet, double room very large (and correspondingly even colder) breakfast rooms and breakfast very good, wifi was ok, stair climbs very narrow, just an old castle.

Separate ambiance

Was disappointing. Sagging mattresses. Very little hot water from the shower. Shower not to do so despite notification nothing done. Breakfast basic but fine. Wifi not always present. Ambiance very good. Unfortunately restaurant only open for groups from 10 people and pre-registered

Best overnight stop-over I've ever had...

I wish we'd had longer to stay here.... Arriving after 21:30 we had a little trouble finding this GEM of a hotel, but we were advised that there might be no-one at reception to meet us, this was no problem as keys were available and room was easy to find, and WHAT a room!!
We really felt privileged to have stayed here and would like to go back and spend a few days there to explore. In fact, I've already told almost everyone I know how amazing it was. (but don't tell everyone I don't want to find it fully booked next time!)
Only thing stopping it being excellent was that, although we didn't spend much time under the huge bed, there was some dust that would need more attentive vacuuming!
Driving across Germany from the UK this was at the limit of a long day's driving, but I'm so glad we didn't opt for chosing a more "convenient" hotel closer to the motorway, this was WELL worth the detour :-D
Continental breakfast was fresh and delicious, and we even had time to explore the refurbished castle chapel before we set off.

Schöner Ort für eine Auszeit

Lage direkt am Waldrand sehr wohltuend. Bietet sich prima an, als Ausgangspunkt für die Seghenswürdigenkeiten der Region rund um denn Kyffhäuser. Abiente sehr schön, mit dem mittelalterlichen Schlossteil und den sich darum gliedernden Bauten aus dem 16./.17. Jahrhundert. Ich konnte da die "Schandbauten aus DDR Zeiten komplett ausblenden. Einzelzimmer genügsam, aber geräumig. Schlossterasse mit prima Aussicht. Gefehlt hat auf jeden Fall ein Ort in der Nähe, der an einem warmen Sommerabend kühle Getränke und etwas zu Essen anbietet. Restaurant nur für Veranstaltungen geöffnet - momentan. Frühstück gut standesgemäss. Leider wurde beim Check In nicht mitgeteilt, dass es im "Roten Salon" Getränkekühlschränke gibt.
