Fantastic

Beautiful hotel with breathtaking views. Room had nice mountain views. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. Staff very nice and enjoyed swimming pool and sauna. Highly recommended!

Cosy and familiar - always happy

We have been coming to this wonderful family-run house for years and have never been disappointed. The rooms are clean and functionally beautifully decorated. The wellness area with large swimming pool, relaxation area and sauna leaves nothing to be desired. The absolute advantage of this house, however, is the wonderful view of the valley and the unrivalled service offered by the hostess and the staff - always unobtrusively friendly and helpful. If you like, you can eat very well in the evening on the terrace with wonderful views - the boss of the house cooks very well. And breakfast also fulfills all our wishes. We will come back and look forward to a relaxing time at Haus Denninglehen.

Mediocre hotel in a great location

Located very nicely above Berchtesgaden with a great view of the mountains. Rooms are clean and furnished as standard. The TV has few SD programs. Breakfast is mediocre and you only have time to take it from 8-10am. The kitchen has little choice for evenings, which also does not vary. The staff is always friendly.

Great Place To Stay

My wife and I visited this hotel last month and we weren't disappointed.
The hotel is in a fantastic part of Berchestgaden with glorious mountain views.
Our room had a balcony which gave a clear view of the Eagles Nest when there were no clouds.
All the staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were really good although we didn't take advantage of them all. They have a pool and sauna as well as a great outside drinking / eating area. There is a lovely lounge and dining area for dinner and breakfast.
Food was good and plenty of it, the only slight downside to the restaurant was that there were too many flies about and we were constantly waving them away, but we would stay here again and can recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the Berchtesgaden area.
The hotel give you a visitors book and free transport card whilst you are there, this is good for discounts in shops, buying tickets and free bus and train travel in the area.

The view is great, the food is terrible.

We had chosen the hotel because of its many good reviews and were looking for a hotel with a separate restaurant in particular, as we wanted to be flexible with dinner. Unfortunately, we were massively disappointed.
But first, the positive things.
The rooms are clean and functionally furnished, the view is magnificent. The staff are very friendly.
It started extremely negatively as soon as we entered the hotel. The foyer smelled very unpleasantly of old frying oil, like in a snack bar.
The first dinner was also very sobering. The original Wiener Schnitzel was by far the worst I have ever eaten. The poor veal was fried in cheap oil or a deep fryer, the fries were soaked in oil and tasted like the cheapest frozen food. Now it was clear to us where the smell of grease in the hotel was coming from. The salmon we also ordered was overcooked and dry, and the sauce was also the cheapest packet product. The prices were on the high side, however.
The next morning we were looking forward to the "rich" breakfast that had been promised. Well, the selection was pretty modest. The breakfast egg was nice and soft, but ice cold and inedible. When I asked, I was told that the eggs were boiled at 6 a.m. and then left in a basket until 8-9 a.m. The scrambled eggs that I ordered instead had no taste at all except for the taste of cheap oil.
As mentioned above, the room was furnished properly, but the seating on the balcony was unacceptable. Old, shabby and broken garden chairs.
Unfortunately, the fantastic location is spoiled by the disgusting smell of grease that permeates the hotel all day. You have to eat outside and it is not possible to end the day relaxing on the balcony.
What a pity.
