Classic village inn up to date – clear recommendation

The Gasthaus Ochsen in Ammerbuch-Breitenholz impressively shows how a classic village inn can combine tradition and modernity. The Mood is cozy and attractive at the same time – you immediately feel comfortable.
We were there during the week, and yet the house was very busy. A reservation is therefore highly recommended. The high utilization rate also seems to be a clear indication of the consistently good quality.
The kitchen is down to earth German-Swabian. I had an onion roast with spaetzle and a starter salad – and was absolutely positively surprised. The meat quality was really very good for a village inn, the dish all around successful and taste convincing.
The Service also deserves praise: fast, attentive and very courteous – without any complaints. Of particular note is the very pleasant price-performance ratio, which makes the visit even more attractive.
Conclusion: If you are looking for good Swabian cuisine in an authentic village inn, you are in good hands here. The Gasthaus Ochsen is definitely worth a recommendation!

Good bourgeois restaurant

If you don't reserve it will be difficult to get a table. This is usually a very good sign for the restaurant. Very tasty food in a cozy ambience. Everything the good middle-class and Swabian heart demands. Nice and fast service. The sanitary facilities are newly renovated us very clean. We were completely satisfied.

Room too warm and loud - beware of church tower ringing all night long

Staff and breakfast very good. - Room above the kitchen very noisy until 11pm. Mattresses too soft/sagging in our opinion. Room clean. The warmth of the old thick walls could not be dispelled despite the windows being open. No air conditioning. - Church bells ring every 15 minutes throughout the night. - Restaurant with hearty food. -
We will not be coming back.

Country Living

This hotel-guesthouse is located in the middle of a working farm, with a fire station across the street. It seems to function mostly as overflow lodging for Tubingen facilities, a biergarten, and a roadhouse. Our "upscale" room was above the kitchen and dining room in the main house. The noise was incredible -- hacking sounds, windows opening and closing, shouting. There was no air conditioning, so we had to close the windows on a warm September evening. Not good. In the middle of the night, forty bells sounded in series; I thought it was a fire alarm. Sleeping was possible only with pills. The breakfast, at additional cost, was simple -- no fresh fruit, no pastries, good cheeses, weak coffee -- and we were joined by scores of flies from the countryside. The room itself was upscale, large, and well equipped. The staff was helpful and spoke some English. The drive to Tubingen took 20 minutes each way

Nice hotel

I liked it. There is a pleasant restaurant there too with good food and nice atmosphere. Wifi was not good in my room in fact it didn't work and the host did not seem that worried about it. It is about 15 minutes from Tübingen centre but an easy drive and cheaper prices. I was happy there and enjoyed my stay.
