World orchid conference
The hotel is far from the city centre but is located in a quiet residential area, is welcoming and the staff is friendly and caring, especially given our German language deficit.
The room clean and spacious, with a large enough bathroom.
Breakfast varied, but with plenty of choice of savory and almost nothing sweet, but fresh bread and jam was assured.
Strong point, the proximity to the tram stop, we took it every day, number 4 takes you downtown in about 20 minutes and passes about every 10. For tickets there is a yellow machine at the stop and there are tickets for all needs.

The breakfast buffet was perfect.
Of particular note is that the parking spaces are right next door.

An average experience
As would be expected in this style of hotel there were no USB charging functionality, but in my room (413) there were two plugs right by the bed which was handy. The bedding is again the more traditional sort than Brits will be used to, but the pillows were nice and firm. The TV in the room worked well with some English news channels available. I was on the top floor on the corner so had to contend with some interesting shaped ceilings - for the most part the space was well utilised, but in order to shower I had to squat the whole time which wasn't pleasant and wouldn't be possible for older people (I'm about average height for reference). The shower did warm quickly though and maintained heat.
The hotel is situated just off of a busy main road but despite this there was little in room noise - the main noise came from noisy guests (and after 10PM!)
The breakfast here was fine, nothing to rave about but also nothing to really criticise either. Staff both in reception and at breakfast weren't overly friendly but neither were they rude.
I'd certainly consider staying at this hotel again (especially as I would love to return to Dresden), but would ask for another room just because of the shower situation - for a couple of nights it is manageable but for longer stays it wouldn't be.

Insulted by staff
Service was extremely slow, and staff ignored us on several occasions despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. The food was average at best — nothing to justify the long wait or lack of attention.
While we chose not to complain during the meal, the situation escalated when we declined to leave a tip - we felt the food was very expensive anyway, and our experience wasn’t great . Shockingly, the waiter responded by being openly rude and even insulted us, making derogatory remarks about English people being "stuck up."
We were completely taken aback by this unprofessional and offensive behaviour.
