Hard work
We were told the reception was closed besides 10am-5pm or something like that as we were there on the weekend, Fridays are also short hours for the staff. Some other guests raised concerns about this as you are not given cards but chip keys - if you lose it or misplace it or if they happen not to work at night then you really are in trouble and you have no-one to call.
Our apartment itself was quite outdated. Still no aircon and just a basic fan available, which was quite loud at night. Opening windows is not an option as you are literally sleeping at the central bus station and opposite the railway station. When I saw the 'gifted' earplugs in the apartment I was immediately very worried as we needed a few good nights of sleep - we came here for business meetings - thankfully we were fairly lucky that we didn't get too disturbed.
I personally had a problem with the kitchen - they left unplugged toaster and an old filter coffee machine on top of IKEA cabinet but no coffee or a filter with it - this is Geilenkirchen and nothing is exactly close by besides one supermarket 10-14 minutes away. It wouldn't be too hard to make things a little more easier for guests... also there was no dishwashing drying rack, no dishwasher, no tea towel, so we had to use one of the bath towels and place the washed dishes on that.
Generally, I wish they provided basic amenities and more help. We paid 130 Euro a night for the privilege, had spiders and spider webs in every corner of the ceiling (with no staff on the premises to ask for help), and were given exactly 3 cups and 3 glasses and 3 plates and 3 bowls. As we had an early departure we left the keys in the room as again the reception wasn't staffed at 7am.... I sent an email telling them we were checking out but never even got a thank you.
It could all be improved with a more personalised service. Next time I would request staying in the main building if I really had to stay here again, or I would see if there is a better hotel. It's really overpriced for 130 Euro a night, without breakfast, without a lift, without an aircon, without a gym, without a few coffee filters and without some coffee / tea, and without staff ever available outside the main hours (which is when things could go wrong and some extra help could be needed, especially somewhere this remote). BUT they didn't forget the very well stocked paid minibar and minibar basket, hahahahaha. (This didn't include milk or a coffee though)
