No regrets....
A beautiful location for the hotel!!!
Friendly hosts and family!
The food is simply a dream Really very, very tasty; the host Toni has it down He is very entertaining, chatting with him is fun!! And the family members are quite friendly as well. Not overly enthusiastic, rather the Lower Bavarian style
Breakfast is straightforward, pretty much everything you need is there!! Simply kept but plentiful! The bread could be a bit more varied, and decaffeinated coffee would also be nice!!
Everything has a cozy character
Sitting outside in nice weather is wonderful; you can hear the rustling of the trees, a true blessing!!!
It is very unfortunate that the balconies do not have dividers, meaning there is no privacy; it would create more privacy and perhaps dampen some noise... The rooms are really quite noisy!
If the guests do not take care of each other, it becomes exhausting!!
The hallway should be aired out more often...
And the lack of power outlets by the bed is unfortunately also a drawback...
Otherwise, the rooms and the bathroom are very clean, and the mattress was also super comfortable!!
Unfortunately, the balcony door closes very loudly... but the sunset and the air are all the more beautiful and better
We will definitely go back because we are simply willing to make compromises; it doesn't always have to be perfect, and the human aspect is ultimately a bit more important
We felt comfortable and do not regret our decision to spend the weekend in the wonderful Bavarian Forest at the Bayerwald Country Hotel!!

Workers' hotel
The location in the Bavarian Forest was nice, very quiet and the air is good. The owners are very friendly and accommodating.
But the rooms are not only showing their age, they are very old. The bathroom is ancient and only just functional. The carpets in the whole house are very old, worn and you can smell them. The dining room is a dark cave from the seventies. It is quaint, but no longer contemporary. The restaurant is only open to guests, so there is no life in the place. The rooms and the dining room were very well heated so that you felt very comfortable. You can use the wellness area on request, but you get the feeling that they are not so happy with it.
About the food: The food is difficult to rate because on the first day it was mediocre, on the second day it was bad, the grill plate was a joke, the meat was hard and tough, the vegetables were watery and gnawed.
On the last day, rump steak from their own ox, a dream for the palate.
Breakfast was simply bad, you wouldn't even serve that to someone in prison. The same thing every day, 2 types of sausage, cheap cheese and their own ox ham. The bread was hard every day and the old reheated rolls were tough. The coffee was hot but thin. The breakfast is simply not worth the money.
All in all, if you don't have any demands and are just there to spend the night, you can book it.
I wouldn't recommend it with a family and children.

An over night stay near the A3 close to Deggendorf
For a hotel in a remote area, this is a find and well worth staying. Our room on 2nd floor was well presented and very comfortable. Bathroom clean and well presented. Our nights sleep was excellent with no noise. Dinner simple and the Veal Steak beautiful tasty and filling. Wine good, and the help and service from the owners makes this place special. Total for our nights stay was 130.00 euros. Beats staying in any chain group hotel and the welcome wonderful. I asked if we could make 2 bread rolls for our lunch and I did offer to pay an extra 5 euros, and was told I could for no payment, but I did add the 5 euros to my bill it was well worth it.Thank you to all at this special little place. Okay it was some 10 miles from the A3, but well worth the drive. Will look forward to our stay next year. Just to help some people, there is no lift, but the hosts would do all they could to help you if needed.
Our trip this autumn totalled 2240 miles with our stays on the trip selected to be off the main routes, we look for comfort, friendly hosts, simple but good meals, and value for money. This hotel rates all these boxes excellent.

Stinking rooms, rude owners
We were a group of three families, over an extended weekend in May 2018. I booked 4 rooms over telephone and one day before our journey we got a call that the quote for our rooms was wrong and we were given a higher rate.The lady gave a very lukewarm welcome and that too disappeared after we made the payment. The hotel rooms on the first floor were dingy and had an ugly smell of dirty old carpets. Our request for using the dining room/ any other area to chat after the dinner was denied. Breakfast was equally poor and we felt as if every slice of cheese/ bread was counted. Will never go there again.

Super holiday
This is a marvellous hotel for anyone looking for a good value base in the Bavarian Wald. It has a beautiful situation and is very quiet - anyone looking for a frantic night life will be disappointed. The rooms are clean and well looked after and the bathroom looked as though it had been very recently - and effectively - renovated. The hotel offers half board - a fairly basic but more than adequate breakfast and a really delicious three course home cooked evening meal. It is at the centre of a lot of walking and cycling trails and the towns of Bodenmais and Deggendorf are a 20 minute drive away. It really is a lovely spot, the couple who run it could not be more welcoming and it is tremendouus vaue for money - I would recommend it unreservedly.
