Historic living in the old town of Oberderdingen

The Stevenson House is a nearly 300-year-old treasure in the old town of Stadt Oberderdingen. Yes, the little medieval town of Oberderdingen officially became a city just a few weeks before we arrived. But you wouldn't know it on the back street just off the main thoroughfare of Oberderdingen's old town. The area is a treasure trove of half-timbered homes that seem frozen in time. Just a block away is the town market and Amhof (site of the village - now city - hall) and buildings dating back to the 12th century). One site is the infamous Witches Tower where victims of the witch hunts were held for trial.
Our hosts treated us to homemade breakfasts and even gave us a peek at the staff quarters to see the construction of this historic structure. Visiting Oberderdingen was a delight as we visited my family's ancestral home and vineyards. And the Stevenson House was a perfect immersion into the local culture.

Great and rustic accommodation

It was great! My boys and I really enjoyed it.
We were there from May 8th to May 11th because of a wedding nearby.
We are from Austria/Styria.
Everyone is incredibly nice. Very friendly!

Turning point

Old half-timbered house, restored in keeping with the style and completed with the owner's English charm. Parking, Wi-Fi. Large bathroom, beautiful location in the old center, you feel like you're in a better time. Great breakfast.

Historic house in English style and comfort

We attended an event at Schloss Flehingen (Educational/Training Center) so we stayed overnight in this extraordinary hotel that was in a historic quarter. The classicness of the house is both outside and inside from the entrance, lobby/living room, the big kitchen and the rooms. Our big comfortable bed looked new, as well as the Toilet/Bath but otherwise the walls, beams, ceiling, cabinet, clothes hangers, reminds one of sturdy old times. Breakfast was simple but good, and WiFi and parking were available. Stevenson Hotel is the perfect base to tour the historic town and its sorroundings.

It's a very strange place - if you are an American

I did not enjoy the place. Everything appears to be falling apart. When I booked my room breakfast was included. When I got my bill it was extra, I only got coffee one morning. Breakfast is a hard boiled egg, a roll and some cold cuts.
Ian felt that things that threw me off threw me off because I am American.
