Standard at the El Capitan Hotel is unacceptable

The hotel is neglected and unclean both inside and outside. We paid 120 euros for one night in a double room with a balcony, without breakfast. We are not picky and did not expect more than a simple, clean hotel/room. This is definitely not recommended, even though it is difficult to find a decent hotel in the area. The indoor pool did not improve the bad impression, as it is actually a public swimming pool. When I wanted to go swimming there, there were 12 children along with swimming instructors in the water, and it was cramped and loud. The landline number listed online is a non-existent connection, and nothing can be sent to the email addresses; you receive an error message.

Poor

This is the absolute worst dump I have ever seen. A youth hostel is luxury in comparison. The whole building smells of chlorine. Bed linens full of stains, just like the chairs and walls. The vanity definitely hasn't been cleaned in months; I just wanted to wipe it a little dry with a white towel, and it was very dirty afterward. Shower head full of mold, no non-slip mats in the shower trays—MORTAL DANGER. Fly screen patched with Scotch tape. Wild birch trees are growing on the balconies. Downstairs, a room window was completely overgrown so that hardly any light gets into the room. Spiders on the ceilings, ants in the trash can. The swimming pool is disgusting; in the changing room, the plaster is falling off the ceiling, just like in the restroom.
The sauna door was blocked off with caution tape and the glass door was completely filthy. We didn't eat breakfast there either; who knows how they store the food. The room where you can have breakfast was also the reception area where plates, cups, glasses, and cutlery were sitting out in the open on tables pushed together. Our daughter said... she would rather bathe in the holy water in the church over there than in that swimming pool; she also almost wanted to sleep in the car.
Dear operators, it is not enough to just be nice; you also have to clean the place properly, replace things if necessary, renovate, and maintain the outdoor area.

Unfortunately disappointing stay for €155 per night

We had reserved a twin room with extra bed. When booking, the names and ages of the guests had to be provided. Upon arrival I was informed that my 13-year-old daughter no longer counts as a child but as an adult and therefore would incur an extra charge for a triple room. We pointed out that we had booked a room with an extra bed and wanted to keep it that way.
When we returned to the hotel after dinner, there was initially a cot in the room – unsuitable for a 13-year-old, of course. After a short consultation with the reception, a travel cot was set up. On this point, the staff was friendly and endeavoured.
Unfortunately, the positives largely stopped there for us.
The room did not make a well-kept impression overall. The walls looked heavily soiled, the sheets had stains and the mattresses in the double bed were clearly sagged in our impression. We felt the same way about the extra bed.
The breakfast room is more reminiscent of an older youth hostel. During our stay, tables were not cleaned directly after changing guests, so they seemed sticky. At the breakfast buffet there were temporarily no more bread rolls and we also did not see bread.
Especially at a price of 155 € per night we honestly had a different expectation of room condition and breakfast.
For us the price-performance ratio was therefore unfortunately not suitable, which is why we would not personally recommend the hotel

Disgusting and totally unacceptable

For me, what they "offer" here almost borders on cheating on the customer. Dirty rooms, beds that were already completely slack, balcony that was mossy and overgrown. No wonder you want to have prepayment here. I wouldn't have paid for it! You don't seem to have to respond to criticisms on the net. The reviews, which are more than positive, are incomprehensible. Or there is 1 great showroom. I can really only advise against leaving your good money here!

Waste of your money (and our Chinese food)

We are formidable hotelgoers (family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 8 years. We hardly ever complain..butre this hotel is too crazy for words. The bedroom is neat, 1 bottle of water on the table. It was very hot on the weekend of June 15-16. There is no air conditioning and even worse NO fridge in the room. We had ordered Chinese and had to throw away half. Such a shame! The pool is really dirty it smells like urine and poop. The water should be clear and clean... after 5 min we were out again! Too bad after such a hot day swimming would have been lovely. The breakfast... yes very limited everything very simple.. everything was refilled only by mouth.. no croissants, no fresh fruit. Fresh omelette would have been nice.
2 stars for the bed and pillow. Those are really fantastic. But despite the heat and no air conditioning slept badly. But that's where it really ends!
I really hope the hotel will do something with this!
