We won't come back

This hotel is very old. The very rustic furnishings and the very worn towels suggest better times. The charm of the reception was rather brittle.
The breakfast was more like a greeting from the 70s, but still OK for the price.
The cleanliness of the hotel deserves praise.

Decent, clean, functional small-town hotel

I have stayed twice in this hotel during the last few years. It's a completely decent small-town hotel. Its owners have gone out of their way to modernise features that travellers tend to expect, including flat-screen TV and WiFi. WiFi was complimentary (as it should be) but didn't actually work in my room, which was a bit of a problem as I needed access for work purposes. Leaving that glitch aside, the hotel's website booking is also a bit of a hit and miss. I didn't receive a reply and eventually asked a family member to call and book a room. The room itself was very spacious, so was the bathroom, and super-clean.
The breakfast they offer is basic, but the charge is also more or less nominal. I would recommend you consider booking the breakfast they're offering.
The hotel is adjacent to/above a restaurant/pub run also by the proprietor. The good news is that they've excellent noise isolation in place, so you don't hear any noise from downstairs once you're in your room. There's no central aircon, but the heating works perfectly well in winter and you can always open the windows during the summer months, if need be.
I would certainly return here if the need arose.

We return once again.

After having a year away from Waltrop we returned again in November /December 2014, The welcome was once again as warm and friendly as in previous year, The hotel was extremely busy with functions every day and evening but the owners always found time for us and our needs. The food was excellent and we heard many excellent reports from guests. The rooms are spacious, light and bright and spotlessly clean. Beds are comfortable and rooms are warm. We could recommend this hotel to anyone, especially those who like home comforts in a welcoming Hotel giving excellent service.

23years staying at the Hotel and Restaurant Kranefoer.

We have stayed at this hotel for 23 years now, the Service has always been second to none, The proprietors and all the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, we usually arrive in a party for 10/12 persons, and they do everything they can to make our stay comfortable and happy. The rooms are spotlessly clean and warm. We arrive at a busy time of year, and it is always well supported by local customers, Something I feel very important. The food is amazing, all cooked in house with local produce. I would recommend this hotel for families , business, or solo guests,
an Excellent experience.
