A Unique Hotel with Character, but Breakfast Spoiled the Experience
The hotel's interior is very unique and extravagant, with large decorative furniture, lots of gold accents, and an overall somewhat kitschy style. Whether you like it or not is a matter of personal taste, but it certainly has character and stands out from typical hotels.
Our room was comfortable and clean, and the bathroom was also in good condition. The price-quality ratio is generally very good (with the exception of the breakfast, which I will explain below). The swimming pool is spacious and enjoyable, and there is a terrace above it where you can have breakfast or enjoy a drink, which is a nice feature.
What was really disappointing was the way breakfast was organized. We wanted to have breakfast around 8:00 AM, which is a fairly normal time in most hotels. However, at 7:30 AM on the first morning, someone knocked on our door. As soon as we opened it, a staff member entered carrying two breakfast trays. Strangely, she only put one tray down and was about to leave with the second one. Still half asleep, we explained that there were two of us staying in the room. She then responded quite aggressively that we would have to pay extra for a second breakfast. We agreed, and only then did she leave the second tray.
We reported this to the reception and explained that we would prefer to come and request breakfast ourselves the following morning, around 8:00 AM. However, the next day another staff member knocked on our door even earlier, at 7:00 AM. Again, she arrived with two breakfast trays but tried to take one away, and once again insisted rather aggressively that we would have to pay extra for a second breakfast.
The whole situation was very confusing. Why not let guests decide when they want breakfast? Why automatically deliver it so early? And why bring two breakfast trays to a room booked for two people, only to try to take one away unless extra payment is made? It was a very strange system and the staff's attitude made the experience unpleasant.
It's a shame, because apart from the breakfast issue, we had a good stay. Unfortunately, this strange and frustrating breakfast experience significantly detracted from what was otherwise a positive visit.
