Great onsen with view. 7 of us stayed in a room, and it was nice and big.
1500 yen for breakfast. We enjoyed the buffet.

Disappointing

The traditional Japanese-style Furusato room was beautiful, spacious, and one of the highlights of our stay. The onsen was also excellent, and we really enjoyed the massage chairs, the small arcade, and the manga library.
Unfortunately, the rest of our experience was disappointing.
The biggest issue is the location. While the surroundings are beautiful, the hotel is very poorly connected. It sits at the top of a very steep hill (around 100 meters of elevation gain). If you’re arriving with luggage, it’s extremely inconvenient. There is no free shuttle service. Your only options are a bus with very limited schedules that stops at the lower hotel, or a taxi that costs around ¥1,200 just to get up the hill.
The food was another major disappointment. The quality was poor, and everything was very bland. Two weeks before arriving, I contacted the hotel to explain that I require a strict gluten-free and lactose-free diet, and they assured me they could accommodate it.
In reality, at breakfast almost everything contained gluten. I ended up eating plain white rice and broccoli. They gave me two gluten-free bread rolls, but they were still frozen and the only way to warm them was in a shared toaster, making them unsafe because of cross-contamination. There were poached eggs with soy sauce and scrambled eggs containing soy sauce and milk. I politely asked if they could simply cook me plain eggs, and they refused. This is the first hotel where I’ve ever been told “no” to such a simple request.
Dinner was equally disappointing. The meals were very basic, and on the second night I was served essentially the same food as the first night, only drier, which honestly felt like leftovers.
The staff were polite, although their English was fairly limited.
Overall, the beautiful room and excellent onsen were not enough to make up for the poor food, lack of accessibility, and the failure to properly accommodate dietary requirements despite promising to do so. I wouldn’t choose this hotel again, especially if you travel with luggage or have food allergies or intolerances.

Breakfast is better than I thought

Stay in a room on the ground floor. The room is Japanese and Western, it is large and nice. Too bad the TVs are old and small. The bed should be a little soft but low. Toilet, sink and bath are independent. The bathtub is deeper but slightly narrower. Convenient because there is a washing area. Dinner is served at Yamabiko, the second floor of the neighboring Yunosato Okada. You can choose your favorite from a menu of about 20 kinds of set meals. The taste was just one. The public bath is on the top floor of the building at dinner time, but it is troublesome so I took a bath in my room. Buffet breakfast is served on the basement floor. The content was better than I thought. It is notable for its pickles and good dishes to accompany rice, which use local specialties. The rice is delicious at first sight from Miyagi Prefecture. Juice seems to be a concentrated reduction, but it's not a vending machine server like you'd find in a chain restaurant, so it still looks good. The open horse mackerel, yakisoba and four kinds of mini cakes were delicious.

Ok hotel

Stayed here for two nights. Was ok wasn’t the best the rooms do not look like the pictures on the website it’s like the pictures have been put through AI and cleaned up. Rooms are very outdated and smell. Bathroom is very small. And air con did not work.
