Hotels convenient for sightseeing in Matsue City
I stayed in this hotel for two nights on a trip to Matsue. It is a Tokyu hotel located a three-minute walk from JR Matsue Station. It is also close to Yonago Airport and Izumo Airport. It is conveniently located in an easy to understand location. It is also close to Matsue Castle and Lake Shinji and has convenient sightseeing conditions. Banquet hall, wedding hall, restaurant and bar are attached. Flat parking is available on site. All rooms are non-smoking. The problem is that it is difficult to book a single room. Reservations are almost impossible during the tourist season. I couldn't get a reservation, and this time I finally got a reservation, so I organized a trip. Some rooms have poor views due to the structure of the building.

As expected from a business hotel
As one would expect from a business hotel in Japan, most of the rooms are quite small. I had a standard single room, which was completely adequate for one person. Hopefully the twin rooms are larger, though, as a 15m2 room would be too small for two people to be comfortable.
The bathroom was fine, and the room had a work desk area which worked well. There was also a small fridge, and a reasonable amount of storage.
The location about a block away from the station was very convenient for arrival by train. The hotel is a bit of a walk away from the main tourist area around the castle, though (about 2 km, but walkable if you enjoy walking).
I found the front desk service to be efficient, and some English was spoken. This probably varies depending on who is staffing the front desk at the time you check in. In general, not much English is spoken in Matsue, as it is off the main tourist routes for foreigners.
An unexpected bonus was the quality of the extra-cost breakfast, far better than expected in a budget business hotel. At the time the extra cost was 2000 yen, and given the quality of the breakfast buffet, I thought the cost of the buffet was reasonable.

Convenient location, friendly staff and clean room. Average room size. The breakfast was one of the best I had in Japan. Parking lot next to the hotel, but it is not free.
Sadly one thing almost drove me crazy, the mini fridge in the room. It was very loud and even turning it off didn't stop it from making loud noises every hour or so.

Room temperature setting is a challenge
I stayed four nights in a Superior Twin.
The facility itself seems a bit old, but the interior is well maintained. The room is spacious and comfortable. Especially, the bathtub was large so I could take a relaxing bath. Breakfast is, well, normal.
The challenge is adjusting the temperature of the guest room. It's early April and Matsue needs air conditioning (hot). But the whole building's setting is "heated," so we couldn't bring the room temperature below 20C. The hotel staff opened the window in my room and brought me a circulator, which I managed to overcome. However, conversely, if the temperature is low at a time when the entire building is set to be air-conditioned, it is likely to be difficult. This hotel seems to have to choose the season to stay.
The original rating is less than three stars, but the hotel staff was quick to respond, so the overall rating will be four stars.

A little quality business hotel
Good location within 5 minutes on foot, visible on the right after exiting the north exit of Matsue Station. However, ground travel from the station is across a busy road and there are no pedestrian crossings, so you have to take a detour to the point where there is one. After leaving the station, use the underground passage to cross the road.
The staff is at Tokyu Hotel as expected. She lent me an umbrella and delivered my luggage to my room, and she was very kind and polite.
The guest rooms were cleaned clean. However, although it is not so much to worry about, I could smell sewage in the washroom and bathroom. The amenities are a system of taking what you need in the lobby. I only have a toothbrush in my room. Noises and voices in the hallways were also difficult to enter, so I was able to spend my time quietly.
In the morning buffet, Their Majesties enjoyed local specialties such as Nodoguro and Izumo Soba. The omelette was also baked right in front of me. They have a wide variety of items and serve them beautifully. It seems that frozen food was heated and not taken out of the bag, but rather tinkered with each ingredient individually. The staff also come to collect plates and other items that have been eaten. Pottery was also used instead of plastic.
I think it is a good hotel that I can recommend.
