The place I will always return to

Fourth time in a row and Lotte Arai doesn't disappoint! We stayed in a magnificent suite at the club, which is the most indulgent place: two bathrooms, two queen beds with great mattresses, amazing cleanliness, beautiful furniture. I read some of the reviews and I really can't relate to them. The food is amazing with great variety throughout the four restaurants plus the 5th that's top end. If you're in fir bog steaks and large sizes fries meals, this is not the place for you. Though the have burgers at the base on the slopes and other finger foods. The food is fresh and the healthy options are extremely varied. But no, it's not the type to make you fat if that's what you're in for. There are two levels of accomodation: basic at the Arai building and luxury on the Club and Nest. Maybe they stayed in the Arai where the prices and options are different? Now let's talk about the slopes: as we know the nature runs the show on the slopes, but on a good day it is absolutely amazing! It's a kingdom for off-piste powder skiing, but there's plenty of nicely groomed slopes to cater for all levels. We chose this place again and again because it's away from the hustle and bustle of the world’s acclaimed ski areas and a great place for families. Our kids roam freely on the slopes by themselves, or go to the play room with billiard, darts, karaoke, etc, while for us nothing beats the amazing onsen and magnesium pool. I am not in the bottom financial range, and I don't compromise quality over quantity. I always returned recharged and relaxed from here. We haven't been here during summer time but I'm very keen to return and do some tracking. Simply love it!

Lacking the customer delight

Resort that is meant for white season. Am sure it will be packed and expensive. Green season is good to take things easy there as there is nothing much in the neighborhood. Nice and clean onsen with indoor and outdoor facilities. Hardware is great and well maintained. I took one star away because of a silly policy at the front desk.
I checked in and wanted to make a reservation at a restaurant there but was rejected by the check-in lady. The check-in at that time wasn’t busy. She just refused to help with restaurant reservation (at their premises) insisting that I should call or make the reservation on my own online. She said check-in and restaurant are two different departments, and she can’t help me by policy. I went back to my room, make a call to the restaurant and no one picked up. I then made a reservation online.
So why that silly policy? Why won’t she help when she was free anyway? Why no one picked up the call (Beco) when it’s stated opened for the day? It’s a small matter (hence I didn’t take it up with the management) but they just missed the mark for customer delight (something similar like assistance with dinner reservation at the same hotel)?

Beautiful scenery

I wanted to stay in a Western-style room for several nights with the mountain view of the resort
I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to the hot springs, but I went for a walk.
Older people were having trouble understanding.

Nice resort overall but the customer service could be improved. The spa facilities and sauna could do with better cleaning. In my partners Sauna and spa had a bad smell which affected that tranquil environment where she wasn’t able to relax. We enjoy the Japanese breakfast the quality was really good with a good variety of hot and cold options.
The staff was also quite rude in the ski park and was not helpful or informative.
Overall good experience but the positive points was not enough to cover some of the negatives.

Our stay at Lotte Arai Resort was nothing short of magical — truly a winter wonderland experience from start to finish.
One of the standout conveniences was the complimentary shuttle service to and from the station. It made arrival and departure completely seamless and stress-free, especially when travelling with winter gear. From the moment we stepped onto the shuttle, everything felt easy and well-organised.
We opted for the full board package, and it was absolutely worth it. The variety and quality of food across all meals were fantastic, with plenty of options to suit different tastes. Every meal felt like something to look forward to after a day in the snow.
Speaking of which — the resort itself is perfectly set up for snow lovers. With direct access to snow activities, everything is right at your doorstep. No long commutes, no hassle — just step outside and you’re instantly immersed in the alpine experience. Whether you’re skiing, exploring, or simply soaking in the scenery, it truly feels like you’re in a postcard.
The rooms were another highlight: spacious, beautifully appointed, and incredibly comfortable — the perfect place to relax and recharge. The entire property is immaculately clean, which really adds to the overall sense of quality and care.
What really elevates the experience, though, is the staff. Every interaction was warm, welcoming, and helpful. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made us feel incredibly well looked after throughout our
