Weekend Getaway

I spent a Saturday night with wife and 1yr old child looking for somewhere we could escape the bustle of the city. This place got some awards on Rakuten travel so decided to check it out.
Stayed in a room on second floor in the main building. It was comfy and clean. We didn't have a shower in the room but the outdoor onsen was worth the short walk. Alcohol spray bottles were placed everywhere, which is a plus right now. Amenities seemed to exceed what I see at other ryokan with things shaving cream, gargle solution, and makeup remover (for wife). Even had a humidifier.
I noticed there was a pretty big kids playground but couldn't try it out due to the rain. Dinner was bbq with lots of variety in meat and veggies. The bar was cozy with a modern cabin style feel to it. Looked newly built, and everything has a good quality feel to it. Breakfast was shabu shabu (a first but good), bacon (japanese style) and eggs, with tons of other side dishes.
Staff were professional and nice. The cat cafe and the "glamping" tents looked pretty cool. Definitely unique to see all these things in one place. Want to come back to try out the other things when kid gets older.

Relaxing modern ryokan at the city gates of Tokyo

I treated myself with a night out at a ryokan not too far from Tokyo.
I found out this beautiful, modern inn in a natural setting in Chiba.
The room was very spacious and comfortable, with a private open-air bath.
I loved the “digital detox” concept. No TV was provided in the room, which gave a further feeling of relaxation.
Anyway, a free Wi-Fi is available in the whole building.
Food was delicious: for dinner I had a gorgeous BBQ, and breakfast was tasty and abundant.
No doubt, I will visit this ryokan again. And next time, I’d like to try glamping.

A beautiful Stay

I wasn't expecting a great Hospitality also wasn't sure about my stay in a Japanese traditional house, but when I reached this place I found myself really cool and calm.
I loved the concept of having a private deck to enjoy great silence and enjoy my drink.
The owner of the property Mr.Hiro and his Wife Mrs.Sachi was a great host and good people to talk and know more about the surrounded area. we even went to the river which is exactly next to the property is peaceful and amazing to explore.
Please do not miss the Japanese style Bbq at the Restaurant, I loved those fresh snell and lobstar

It's a ... ummm... motel?

We thought that this is a ryokan but it isn't. It's a hotel consisting of a main building with rooms (I venture to say: 2-star) plus a bunch of cottages lined up in a park, with parking directly at the cottage. There are about a half dozen of them, each with their own deck. That would actually be quite cool but read on. The cottages are very close to each other, so if your neighbours have a bbq party out on the deck, God help you (if you like it quiet). The park per se is rather nice to look at and at night deer venture into the property. Unfortunately, there are green (!) floodlights illuminating the trees which gives the whole place the feeling of a motel in a 1970s b-movie. (Illumination is good but not in green.) There are western and Japanese style rooms. The western rooms continue the b-movie theme with flowered wallpaper, Ikea bunk beds, animal pattern rugs, pictures probably also bought at Ikea, and flowered cushions to match. On the upside, the beds are actually quite comfortable, as is the sofa. Everything is clean too, and the air is crisp so sleeping with open windows was bliss (we were the only guests due to it being off-season so it was quiet). Dinner was a real disappointment, totally sub-par by Japanese standards, especially at this price (a cheap chicken nabe - stew - with no other side dishes). Breakfast was OK but no coffee. Or, I should say, coffee was available but it was instant Nescafe. Unbelievable. The bath house was lovely, with an outdoor deck from where we could observe the deer below. This place is very close to Yorokeikoku which makes for great strolls and a hot dip afterwards. It is by itself, in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by forest and hills, which to us is a big plus. If the floodlights, the instant coffee, the interior design and the food could be straightened out, we might even return. As things stand, we won't. (Bonus tip: staying in the Japanese style cottage which is at the far end of the property gives a more style-neutral experience, helps forget the green floodlights - this one cottage doesn't have one - and also reduces the risk of hearing the neighbours as it doesn't have any on one side. You can also book without dinner and eat out, thus vastly reducing some of the minusses of this place.)
