Lovely little guesthouse
We booked it through Airbnb, which was very easy so check out that app since Tripadvisor doesn't appear to link to a booking website.
The staff were absolutely lovely and very welcoming - English communication on the app beforehand was perfect and prompt , and although at the guesthouse our host did not speak a lot of English, she spoke a little and was willing to try! As my travelling companion speaks Japanese, our host was able to give us advice about the local area which was useful.
The food (dinner and breakfast) was delicious - local seafood including oysters and scallops for dinner, and French toast for breakfast. Our host even kindly prepared vegetarian food for one of us which was great.
The room, and actually the entire guesthouse, were very clean and tidy. Traditional futon beds were comfortable. We had booked the two person room but were upgraded to a larger room which had fabulous views of the sea out of both windows (you can see it in the pictures of the property). It was peaceful - although the guest house is on the main road, it is a relatively quiet road so we were not disturbed by cars. Otherwise the location next to the see and along the coast is perfect. As in a lot of Japanese lodgings, bathroom and toilets were communal (and clean). I strongly recommend this guest house to anyone wanting an authentic experience as they are driving along the beautiful Sanriku coast!
