Perfect stay, without luxuries

Accommodation 1 minute from the beach.
Simple, but correct room.
Very friendly staff, they make sure that everything is to your liking.
Japanese breakfast, very correct.
Accommodation without luxury, perfect for a stay on the Island.
Recommendable.

I wouldn’t say the hotel wasn’t clean or that the peoples weren’t nice.
However I would say that it’s UNFAIR to take my money for a trip I didn’t do because of WEATHER CONDITIONS.
Due to high waves, not a single boats were able to reach Tokashiki Island during my stay at Okinawa, leaving me without a hotel for three days in a row. I made a request to get my money back, and despite giving them proof that I can’t come to Tokashiki, they choose to not cancel the reservation and foremost NOT give the money back.
333$ throws out of the window due to a LACK of understanding and comprehension.
They could’ve just give me, at least, half of my money back, but no. They kept it all for them, because they’re thief. I paid for a room that I didn’t even step into, for sheets I didn’t slept in and a bathroom I didn’t used. I understand the non-refund policy, BUT WHEN THE PROBLEM COMES FROM THE CLIENT AND NOT NATURE ITSELF !!!!
I wouldn’t recommend booking here, it’s a waste of time and MONEY.

Attentive Family-Run Establishment with Excellent Location

Breakfast and dinner here were thoughtfully prepared and traditional Japanese food. The rooms are also very traditional, with tatami matts and small bathroom. The staff is very very nice and goes out of their way to do what they can to improve your stay.
The location is fantastic - only a few blocks to beautiful Aharen beach. Right in town, it is easy to visit other shops and restaurants.
After some translation challenges we were able to arrange the shuttle from/ to the ferry which was very helpful.
Be prepared that this is an older building. It is well-kept but not the cleanest. The air conditioning was an older unit. Internet only really worked in the lobby area. We did get a non-smoking room. As long as you can accept the relaxed "beach hotel vibe" you will enjoy your stay!

Authentic with excellent food

The rooms and the whole vibe are authentically small island Japan. You sleep on matting in traditional style but the standout USP of this place is the food. It is exceptional and beautifully presented. Not easy to book though but worth the effort. Highly recommended.

Laid back, homey and well located.

Family owned hotel, Reef Inn is a comfortable, homey place where the staff goes out of their way to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. The double room was comfortable enough with A/C and TV (though very basic), but the toilets/shower combo was a tad small (think boat shower...); a tall/large person would find it very unpractical! The corridors/dining room and staircase look as if they had not been vacuum-cleaned for a very long time. But with the beach just a few minutes away, one has to be understanding. And the location really is the main asset here. You can rent snorkerling gear directly at the front desk, and the staff will give you good advices. A shuttle is provided from and to the ferry terminal, and when we left, the whole team was waving good bye from the entrance...heartwarming!
